Best groups for my AR10- load worth trying

Re: Best groups for my AR10- load worth trying If you can lay your hands on some Lapua, 155 grain, Scenar bullets, and some once-fired brass, out of your rifle, put 46-47 grains of Varget behind them. That has produced sub, 1 inch groups out of all the .308s I've put them in at 200 yards.

    reloading .223 for AR

Re: reloading .223 for AR In the 4, .223s I own, Varget is one of the best powders for bullets weighing 60 grains, or heavier, as far as accuracy, but, I've never had much luck with it when using the lighter bullets. If you're using a progressive press, you might want to take a look at Tac...

    Muzzle brake for a 308

Re: Muzzle brake for a 308 The JP "tank brake" does the best job, but, it's UGLY!! (I have 3 of them)

    45 ACP

Re: 45 ACP I like Titegroup with jacketed bullets, in .40, or 9mm, but, really don't care for it in .45 ACP. Straight Clays is a really good powder for .45 ACP, except that it is temp. sensitive. Pressures, and velocities increase with higher temperatures. VVN310, or N320 are awesome for...

    Rifle Scopes Burris 6

Re: Burris 6 The ballistic plex wouldn't be my first choice, but, I can deal with it, for what the intended uses are going to be. I prefer capped turrets, especially when out hunting.

    Rifle Scopes Burris 6

Has anybody tried one out? I currently have an IOR 3-18 on one of my rifles, which is my best scope, and I really like it, except that it's so darn big, and heavy. My rifles are mostly for hunting, 3-gun, and an occasional, 600 yard match, and I rarely change the settings, once it's sighted in.

    .22lr compensator effect on accuracy?

Re: .22lr compensator effect on accuracy? When ever you make a change to the barrel, it will change the harmonics. It may shoot better, or, it may shoot worse. The only way to tell for sure is to try it. I've changed brakes on a couple of my .223s, and even though it changed the point of...

    Nosler Competition Bullets

Re: Nosler Competition Bullets Out of my .308s the Noslers shoot about the same as Sierras, but, Lapuas blow them both away!

    best 223 remington/5.56mm load for a 1-7 twist

Re: best 223 remington/5.56mm load for a 1-7 twist When I was running a 1-7 twist, Black Hills, 52 grain match was the most accurate, but, I don't think it would do well at 1K.

    Backyard Sub Sonic Shooting?

Re: Backyard Sub Sonic Shooting? Although CB caps, and Aguila Colibris are pretty quiet, in MY rifles, accuracy SUCKS! Both of my .22 rifles average 1/2" at 50 yards, with ammo they like, but, with either CB caps, or Colibries, starlings are pretty safe at 20 yards. I'd suggest a Crossman...

    .22 Dedicated Upper

Re: .22 Dedicated Upper The only ones I've NOT heard any complaints about, is the Compass Lake, and the Nordic. A friend of mine has the Nordic, and he has maybe 5K through it, without any malfunctions. He did some accuracy testing at 50 yards, and had some ammo that would do under 1/2"...

9mm Handgun brass, which is the better brand?

Re: 9mm Handgun brass, which is the better brand? Winchester! I'd just as soon leave Federal lay on the ground. But, I only load, and shoot around 10K of handgun ammo a year.

    Barnes TTSX vs Nosler Accubond

Re: Barnes TTSX vs Nosler Accubond You really need to try them both in YOUR gun. I've had both bullets and found some rifles shoot one for crap, and the other great, and the next rifle was opposite. Both should perform well on game, but, I think the Barnes is a little better.

    .17 HMR

Re: .17 HMR As stated, the wind will play hell with them, but, I've taken my .17 HMR out to the Dakotas several times, and it will tip over prairie dogs at 200 yards, whereas the .22 long rifle is pretty much limited to 50 yards. I've just got a Ruger, bolt gun that is stock, with the...

Looking for Advice on bullets and dies

Re: Looking for Advice on bullets and dies For a "bolt" gun, if I have brass that has been fired in THAT gun, I prefer to neck size it. No messy lube, ect.. But, make sure each piece of brass will cycle in your rifle, after neck sizing, but, BEFORE reloading it. If it doesn't fit, you may...
