the 6.5 Grendel gets one last try

There's no reason to think that having the bolt raceway, carrier, bolt, action face, barrel extension and bore in perfect alignment would possibly lead to better accuracy????? Sorry, I can't buy that bridge. If that were the case, why waste your money on seating dies for reloads? Just push...

    Gunsmithing Switch barrel system

Can you do a barrel nut for the Tikka? Several folks are making barrel nuts for Remingtons (just like the savage). You can take the old barrel to a smith have him take of the shoulder and cut the threads further down the barrel. Then it will mount pretty simply from then on. Just a thought.

Rifle Scopes Thoughts on switch scope?

I did a switch out w/ quick release rings between a .223 and a .260. In the latter I have hunting bullets and target bullets, so I just keep a log book with my zero for each: Mount the scope, turn the clicks, might have to fine tune a bit (not a real high quality scope), but usually w/in an...

I need a name for a rifle action company. Help me and win.

Revolution (or Revolutionary) Actions (or Arms) The significance is in the double innuendo of “revolution.” RA – Battalion (Short action) RA – Brigade (Long action) RA - Division (Magnum action). Each could have a “Marine” prefix for Stainless Steel (i.e. Marine Division)

    Who the leader in 168's?

It's not an accident that SMKs still hold more records that all other bullet makes combined. Some of that is because they've been making match bullets longer than anyone in the US, and I suspect the gap is closing because there are many quality bullets on the market now. No offense, but that...

    10/22 Custom Build, Help

I've got a stocky thumbhole, changed out the hammer and springs, changed out the barrel with a kidd LW barrel, the gun shoots nickel sized 10 SHOT groups at 50 yds, with cheap walmart federal HPs. Was quite a bit under $800. I'm just not sure how much a difference in accuracy the receiver is...

AR-15 Experts: Where to buy accurate 16-18" barrel, WOA?

+ 1 on the Lothar Walther. I've got one in .204 and one in .22lr; both are amazingly accurate.

Tikka T3 - Excessive Copper Fouling / Accuracy Issues?

There could be lots of issues, but if you really are getting bad copper build up, try tubs fire lapping bullets. I've used them on several rifles, now. Some didn't improve the accuracy, but I had a .257 imp that needed cleaning about ever 20 rounds (w/ obviously blue patches) and now it goes...

Swipe marks w/ low powder loads, 260 Rem. What's going on?

Unless your chamber is cut long (which happens), I'm pretty sure that the brass isn't going to move back faster than the cases outward expansion. If that were the case, you'd be seeing some blow-by on the necks of gases coming back along the brass. You're also showing cratered primers. The...

    Thoughts on Savage 111

The action on the Savage is really ugly, and they feel a little "loose". They don't have the "bank vault" feel of the 700 rem. Yet, my savage .204 (w/ aftermarket barrel) is the most accurate rifle I've ever shot (.1-.3). Gear snobs might look down on it, but for performance, you really can't...

    Good bullet weight for deer?

Go down and buy a box of hornady sst, nosler accubond, et al, 150 gr. It will perform better than both of those you mention.

    Which caliber

Re: Which caliber Deer, Hogs and Dogs? The .260 will do all of those with confidence, have less recoil and be VASTLY supperior as a target weapon if you are shooting distance, especially with Lapua making brass now.

    Suppressors Best non 1911 .45 for duty/carry?

Re: Best non 1911 .45 for duty/carry? Never use the HK, by all accounts, excellent weapon. Have some experinece with the other two. I'm a glock fan, but I modify the frames to change the grip angle. They are high cap., but I don't really like them that well unless they are modified. The...

    Suppressors Glock Malfunction

Re: Glock Malfunction The CHP turned down the glock as a duty weapon because this was an issue in the glock .40s because of the higher pressure they operate at, sometimes in as few as 5K rounds. I can see this also becoming an issue with a steady diet of +P or +P+ (or NATO) 9mm. Still, my...

    Suppressors Glock upgrades?? Trigger,barrel,etc....

Re: Glock upgrades?? Trigger,barrel,etc.... I am a pistol guy - revolver, auto, single-shot hunters. The glock is an excllent choice. The 9mm is an excellent choice if you aren't a pistol afficianado. Corbon 115 HP have a 91-92% one shot incapacitation record in real shooting and if push...

    Suppressors why no beretta love?

Re: why no beretta love? I haven't owned the Beretta, only the Tarus. I don't hate either and my Tarus was an accurate pistol. Yet, in picking a 9, it would be real high on my list. I've owned Browning HP (very tough to beat handling), Sigs (very nice and very smooth) and now have a M19...

    .260 Pros/Cons?

Re: .260 Pros/Cons? The only "con" on the .260 is the American's don't like 6.5mm rounds. In Europe they love the 6.5s, but here, they've always had a "ho-hum" response. In fact, that's pretty much the American response to every metric caliber that isn't 7mm. Which is kind of weird because...

    Drastic accuracy loss...

Re: Drastic accuracy loss... If it's not the scope, and it wasn't chemical barrel destruction (as described), I'd be looking at the bedding. Floorplate not seating right can mess with you. Wood stock, tupperware, or a real glass stock? Tupperware are notorious about screw tension. I've...

    Barrel life in 6.5

Re: Barrel life in 6.5 Don't leave out the other factor in barrel life: Heat. If you are runnin' and gunnin' (regardless of the caliber or weapon) your barrel life is significantly less than a guy who takes a shot, a bit later takes another, etc. Careful shots, two to five minutes apart...
