Range Report The Hornady 140 amax ammo. The OLD VS THE NEW

I shot the factory load I have referenced at 435 yards on steel. Bottom right group was 5 rounds of factory ammo. Upper group was 3 rounds of handloads. Third shot got away from me a little.

6.5CM, Issues with 140 AMAX in 8 Twist Edit: Bad Lot of AMAX

Give the Hornady 140bthp a try. They are shooting great in my creedmoor and like you I'm having difficulty finding a good load with the Amax. Funny though the loaded 140 Amax ammo shot great in my rifle. All my ammo and components were purchased in the last six months.

Range Report The Hornady 140 amax ammo. The OLD VS THE NEW

My factory ammo (3132438) velocity, 2670 avg. was taken at 39 degrees f. 22" barrel. Same day my hand loads, 41.5 h4350 / federal gm210m / 140 Amax / new brass averaged about 2685fps. Accuracy was no where near as good as the factory stuff. I did have pretty good accuracy with the same...

Range Report The Hornady 140 amax ammo. The OLD VS THE NEW

Its a Long Rifles Inc. group buy re-barrel with a Krieger M24 at 22". Factory ammo was going approx 2670 fps. Still working on hand loads that will match the factory performance.

Range Report The Hornady 140 amax ammo. The OLD VS THE NEW

I have had limited but good results with Lot# 3132438. Not sure if this falls under the new or old lots. Rounds 4-9 on new barrel.

Can you supply lot numbers? Was this factory Hornady loaded ammo or hand loads?

New X-Ray Chassis from KRG-now shipping!

Sulcop, how's the balance with the X-ray? Just curious since it's so much lighter with the polymer back end.

    HS Precision Detachable Magazine Assembly

I installed a gen2 HSP DBM kit without any modification to the HS Precision stock I have. Only downside I see is the price of the mags. I think my 10 round mag was around $120.00. I really like the 4 round mag for hunting though.

New X-Ray Chassis from KRG-now shipping!

How's the lug recess? Wondering if my LRI tactical lug will fit without modification. Also any issues with Timney triggers.

    Shooter App Issue?

For I phone it's on the table/solution/graph page. You press the icon for emailing a dope sheet and there is a selection for velocity calibration. Should be similar for android.

    nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

I've heard about Norma manufacturing for Nosler but it's still good to have another label supporting the Creedmoor. I am using Hornady brass as well with no plans to change. That being said if there is a shortage from Hornady again at least there are options.

    nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

Not too much more than Lapua 6.5-284 at $127.00/100. Hopefully with Norma bringing 6.5 Creedmoor brass to the market it will eventually bring the prices down. Norma Offers Seven New Types of Cartridge Brass for 2014 « Daily Bulletin Nice to have options...

New X-Ray Chassis from KRG-now shipping!

Not sure if this has been addressed already but are there any issues with cleaning rod clearance? Taking the cheek piece off seems simple but what about the butt pad? Does its height interfere with cleaning? Is it adjustable for height? Also, another vote for FDE

$1500 to work with what would you choose?

"Off the shelf gun, off the shelf ammo, and a scope. Steel targets, coyotes and deer under 500-600 yards after I become proficient enough to know where I'm shooting." "Savage is ok as a range toy or a hunting gun (non trophy)......" Pretty sure that is what he is looking for based on the OP
