    Rifle for a young marine

I am under the impression that all bullets used in CA have to be lead free. If that is incorrect, my appologies.

    Rifle for a young marine

One issue to think about is where this soon-to-be Marine will be stationed. If he goes to CA, he cannot shoot bullets with lead. If he goes to NC, the deer are so small that a .22 short will work (this is compared to the IL, SD, and WY deer I'm used to). Also, if he is in NC he will be mostly...

New GAP Extreme Hunter in 6.5 SAUM

If I'm not mistaken, I believe shooters are using something closer to .6 BC to match their drops. Another thing to check could be your scope height. One issue I've had in the past was having the correct scope height in the ballistic computer.

New GAP Extreme Hunter in 6.5 SAUM

You should be able to slide a bullet into the neck of fired brass. Your problem could be neck thickness. It's possible the brass is either too thick, or inconsistant, which is causing issues. Will a bullet not fit into any of your fired brass, or just some of them? What is the neck thickness you...

    Which 7mm?

Personally my top 3 7mm cartridges are (in ascending order of performance) 7 SAUM, 7 LRM, and 7/300 Norma Improved. It all depends on how much money you want to put into it, your preference of short or long action, and what components you can get your hands on. Good luck and keep us posted.

New GAP Extreme Hunter in 6.5 SAUM

Great looking rifle! How do you like the March scope? Is it worth the extra $ over a Nightforce? Thanks for the info.

New GAP Extreme Hunter in 6.5 SAUM

That's a good looking rifle!! It's too bad we didn't meet up before I moved from RC last year. How do you like the Manners folder? What does the rifle and scope weigh? Once again, good looking rifle, I'm sure it shoots even better.

New GAP Extreme Hunter in 6.5 SAUM

That's a great looking rifle. What does that beast weigh? How do you like the M2013? I'm considering the long version for my next build.

    LongRifles Inc Mk13

Very nice looking rifle! I had the privilege to meet Chad at his shop before moving to NC last year, I lived in Rapid City. He has a top notch setup and is an upstanding guy. Very few things in life are as good as an outstanding rifle made by a Marine, for a fellow Marine.

    Chandler Sniper Rifles.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to meet Norm in mid 2004. I was about to be medically retired from my beloved Corps (NOT as a supply POG) and I was in the market for a good scope, rings, and bases. With the selection being what it was in J'ville, I called IBA and the guy on the phone said to...

New GAP Extreme Hunter in 6.5 SAUM

What are the specs of your rifle? Barrel length, twist, and velocity? Thanks for the info.

Out of curiosity, has anyone shot the 160gr Matrix bullet yet? I'm interested to hear the results.

6.5 LRM or 6.5 LRM Improved

I am kicking around the idea of a .270/7 LRM to shoot the Matrix 165 and 175 gr bullets. Have you considered melonite barrel treatment to extend the throat life on the 6.5 LRM? Keep us posted with your project.

Hunting & Fishing opinions on deer hunting rounds

Re: opinions on deer hunting rounds My vote is for the 7mm SAUM pushing the 180 gr Bergers. It worked great for the wife and me this past year, 7 shots-7 kills out past 400 yds.
