Need a high end rifle recommendation!

Can't go wrong with a defiance action if you are looking at a surgeon. And you can actually get one much quicker too! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    New guy from Oregon!

New guy from Oregon! Welcome John! Not sure where you shoot locally but there are quite a few of us who shoot out of Tri-County gun club. Depending on what you are interested in there are lots of guys who are very skilled/knowledgeable in all disaplines. I am a competitor in the practical...

Rifle Scopes New Build - Need Glass Opinions

Forgot to answer your other question... I'm running seekins low rings on this action. They have taken a beating this past year in matches and being knocked to the garage floor by a buddy (6" fall right onto the windage turret) with zero movement. Well worth the $135 or so Sent from my...

Rifle Scopes New Build - Need Glass Opinions

I am honestly not sure how many rotations down i had to dial on the initial setup to compensate for the action but I know I still have down travel, at least one full turn left but I don't think I'll ever need to dial down, it actually adds a bit of rotation for shooting out to distance but...

Rifle Scopes New Build - Need Glass Opinions

I don't think you can lock down the eye piece but everything else about this glass is worth the $$. Can't get a better warranty or customer service for the money in my opinion. I might make a change later to get some more magnification but for a sub 2k optic it is really really hard to beat...

Rifle Scopes New Build - Need Glass Opinions

I've got plenty of adjustment to get out to 1600+ with a 260. I do have 20moa already integrated into my action so that helps but so far I've gone out over 1600 without an issue. Beyond that, the eye box is very generous which is nice for a match gun since we are often in very odd positions...

    Rem 700 chassis

A few other good options for a sub 1K chassis would be Mcrees Prescision, XLR, Rock Solid... All can be purchased to fit a rem700 footprint and normally require zero gunsmith work. I've been running a Mcrees for a year and just ordered up the new XLR to give it a shot. A chassis system can...

Rifle Scopes New Build - Need Glass Opinions

I did a 260 build on a defiance deviant last year and topped it with a vortex razor HD... Worth the extra couple hundred as the scope is solid as can be with a great warranty. A lot of features for sub 2k including good zero stops, great warranty and an illuminated retical.

**2014 JC Steel Target Challenge, Sponsored by Seekins Precision

Jake, unfortunate that statement directly contradicts what the stage RO said to countless shooters. The RO was the one who mentioned it to my squad that he noted the 4 shooters he witnessed bracing each other and would be informing you about it.... Something isn't adding up here.

I don't think Dustin Morris was the shooter in question. In fact, I don't think we was in that squad as he shot the match with the Silencerco guys. You might be thinking of another shooter who was in the squad and did finish in the top 10.

**2014 JC Steel Target Challenge, Sponsored by Seekins Precision

I was in one of the squads who's day 2 starting stage was pulled prior to the start of day 2. We essentially had no stage to start on so were instructed to follow the pre-determined clockwise pattern of movement and go to the next stage in the rotation. This put two groups on one 'the rock'...

Surgeon 591 or plain old trued up 700

I called and worked up the action with Norm and Mike. They had initially said it would be 8-12 weeks. Action arrived 6 weeks later. In my opinion it was totally worth the wait! During that wait I was able to source the barrel, brass dies, bullets, stock and everything else. All arrived are...

Surgeon 591 or plain old trued up 700

I went through the same thing about 3 month ago.. After adding up the cost of building up a 700 it was only abut $200 dollar more to get a custom action. Keep in mind: bottom metal, gunsmith work, rail bedding an so on. I opted for a defiance deviant and could not be happier. The guess are...
