Re: Remington Quality Control down the tubes? My most recent purchase from them was a SPS Varmint left hand in 308. The gun shoots great, no mechanical issues, fit and finish is very good for a 600 dollar gun (although I have other Remingtons with better fit & finish). I have a "beater"...- silverstang

Re: 30-06 vs .308 I've got both. A day at the range, I prefer the 308. My 30-06 is a dedicated hunting rig. Farthest I have taken it to is 200 yards but it is quite deadly at that range. I'm a little guy, so shooting a VERY light 06 all day at the range hurts. My 308 has some weight to...- silverstang

Re: Good Beginner's rifle Can't go wrong with a Remington (unless it's a 710 haha). I just picked up a SPS Varmint in 308. Only ten rounds through it but so far it has impressed me. With a cheap Bushnell on the top of it it is making groups that look like a custom built rifle at 100 yds...- silverstang
