How often do you trim ,308 brass for a Bolt gun?

Re: How often do you trim ,308 brass for a Bolt gun? I trim every time I fired them. I have enough brass to last me for 2 year... so during the winter months, I have plenty of time to have available brass if I decide to change the load. The Giraud case trimmer makes trimming casings a breeze.

    Which AR?

Re: Which AR? What are you going to use the AR for? High-power, 3 gun, or just plinking? The lowers I would stay away from are Olympic foremost and then Colts. Some lowers need to have modification to accommodate a quality match trigger, which is usually the first up grade. Bushmaster are...

    308 chambering problem

Re: 308 chambering problem 918v is absolute right. By not having proper headspace, you will either not be able to load the round into the chamber or push back the shoulder so much, that casehead separates from the casing and now you need a case extractor to get the rest of the casing out of...

    308 chambering problem

Re: 308 chambering problem Not all brass sizes the same from different manufacturers. All brass when sizing spring back to the larger dimension to some degree. Some more than others, depends on the manufacturer specs. Also... if the neck is thicker than other manufacturers cases, the expander...

    308 chambering problem

Re: 308 chambering problem Sounds like the headspace on the casing aren't bump back enough. Headspace on a bolt should have a min set back of .002 off a fired casing. No more than .005 set back in order to save the brass from being over worked and getting brittle, thus shorting the life of...

Gunsmithing Most Accurate 5.56/.223 AR15 Barrel for Build

Re: Most Accurate 5.56/.223 AR15 Barrel for Build Krieger +1. As long you're not in a rush. It can take as long as 9 weeks to have it ship out, but you will be very happy when you go out with it for first time.

    Gunsmithing Setting a barrel back

Re: Setting a barrel back A 95 reamer is short throat-ed for 155's. 4000rds would be a good life for a palma rifle using the 155's, but might have more life with a heavier bullet. What twist do you have on that barrel? I would Vote to have it re-crown just because gases can distort the crown...

    Busted M1A

Re: Busted M1A Whamp, A good friend of mine had the exact same thing happen to his Springfield 3 week ago. Not only did the hammer broke, but the Mag latch had a broken spring. If you look at the hammer at where it broke off, you'll see that it was a casing. The hammer that I have from some...

    Wolf Small Rifle Primers

Re: Wolf Small Rifle Primers Don't know about G210M,S primers, I don,t use them. But I know other competitors have use Wolf Standard primers and complain of not getting ignition from the Wolf Standards. For the last two years or so... Their"s been treads on others sites on this subject. I'm...

    Wolf Small Rifle Primers

Re: Wolf Small Rifle Primers Capt, The only thing I would be cautious of Wolf Standard Lg Rifle Primer in an AR, are slam fires. M1A/M-14NMs in their hay day would be a shooter worst nightmare. Floating firing pins are a great thing for combat, but suck when your trying to squeeze ever bit...

    Wolf Small Rifle Primers

Re: Wolf Small Rifle Primers Wolf LG & SM Mag rifle primer have a thicker cups then the non mag rifle primers. The Wolf large & small rifle primers cups are very soft cups, so you might be having the firing pin piercing the cup & the anvil, thus not causing ignition.

Anyone using Nosler Custom comp projectiles?

Re: Anyone using Nosler Custom comp projectiles? Haven't use them in anything in 308, but in 223 with the 52,69,77 and 80gr Nosler CC... wouldn't use nothing else. I found them to be more consistent than Sierra's. That if you're only want to be using HPBTs.

.308 load with Magnum primers.... Need Help

Re: .308 load with Magnum primers.... Need Help Jerry is so right about the port pressure with the M1A. The wrong powder WILL wreck your day. Powders like H4895,IMR4895 VV135,VV140,WIN748 and RL15 are a safe bet. And I use RL15 for nothing other than 168 and 175's. Another thing that I stay...
