    500 S&W Magnum Load Info

Re: 500 S&W Magnum Load Info I have a 500 with the 8 3/8" barrel. I have not done much with it for a couple of years but I ended up having the best luck with Hodgdon Lil' Gun and Barnes XPB bullets. I liked the 325 gr bullets best and I don't remember my charge weight off the top of my head...

    Neck turning (by hand) sucks

Re: Neck turning (by hand) sucks Thanks Victor. I will give it a try but I am pretty sure the WSM case will be too large diameter for the 1/2" chuck. I will find out though.

    Neck turning (by hand) sucks

I have been working on getting a good stock of brass built up for my new 7/300WSM. I have been necking down Norma brass and turning the necks with a Sinclair tool. It is working okay and I am getting nice looking and precise brass but what a pain. Does anyone have any suggestions for...

    7mm WSM or 7mm RSAUM

Re: 7mm WSM or 7mm RSAUM While the SAUM is a good cartridge of its own right, I would be concerned about its staying power. On the other hand, it appears the WSMs will be a going concern for quite some time.

    Hunting & Fishing I Don't Get It

Re: I Don't Get It Apparently we are working on a nationwide epidemic - Here in NY there is a guy got himself some publicity for a set of shed antlers that would be close to a state record. It turns out they were bought on ebay. He is a guy who has been pretty notorious over the past few...

    Hunting & Fishing Coyote Tracks?

Re: Coyote Tracks? 12ga with 4 buck is the go to combo for a lot of coyote hunters around here - virtually all the guys who hunt them with hounds. They all save the pelts - more fur friendly than most rifle rounds you hunt them with.

    220 SWIFT LOADS !

Re: 220 SWIFT LOADS ! I run the 55gr NBT over VV N540. Start at 37.5 and work your way up - I got very surprising velocity and accuracy without pressure signs.

    TAB Gear Biathlon Sling

Re: TAB Gear Biathlon Sling I received my TAB biathlon sling last week. I ordered it because I carry my rifle while I xcountry ski and I also sometimes ski in to get to some of my coyote hunting spots. I was impressed with the sling as soon as I opened the package. I skied with it for 1.5...

Hunting & Fishing CA turkey hunting?

Re: CA turkey hunting? I am working on some leads for some private land areas to hunt but I was just hoping to get some help from those in the know on general areas that seem to produce better turkey hunting success. I seem to be getting what I need for finding places with Rios but I am...

Hunting & Fishing CA turkey hunting?

I could stand a little help with some pointers for where to go in CA for turkeys. I am planning a trip out there to hunt for three days starting opening day. I will be starting from the Bay Area and plan on putting on as many driving miles as necessary. If possible, I would love to get into...

Hunting & Fishing ny coyote public hunting locations

Re: ny coyote public hunting locations Are you looking to call them in? If so, my recommendation would be to get hooked up with someone nearby who has some experience. It can be very frustrating starting out cold. You will get some tips to get you going and maybe you can work together to...

    Hearing protection options?

Re: Hearing protection options? Are the MSA Sordins appropriate for hunting use as well as range/target use? Do they amplify the sounds that you want to be able to hear better when hunting?

    Hearing protection options?

I need some advice on better hearing protection than I have been using to this point. I am usually good about using ear plugs whenever I shoot at the range or trap/skeet shoot. I have always only used the yellow foam ear plugs that we use at work. I am not sure they are enough, particularly...

Advanced Marksmanship Moving SHOOTER, lead same as moving TARGET??

Re: Moving SHOOTER, lead same as moving TARGET?? The bullet will not arc. That is optical illusion that occurs when you are moving and you throw or 'project' an object. Think about the forces involved. Once the initial projecting force is put upon the object, there is no continuing force...

    .22-243 shooters?

Re: .22-243 shooters? A 22-243 AI is my next acquisition so I will be interested to see how yours works out. I am going with a 1-7" twist to shoot the 90gr Bergers. I figure those ought to be able to reach out there a ways.

    reloading a 204 ruger

Re: reloading a 204 ruger I own two 204s , a Savage 12 and an HS Precision. The Savage likes the 32 gr Hornady as well as any of my hand loads. With these factory loads it also shoots as good groups as any rifle I own. It does not shoot the 40 gr Hornady any better than 1.5-2 MOA. My...
