    AR10 accuracy question

Another very important factor is ammo/bullet choice. What is your velocity and ES/SD for the ammo you are shooting? Excessive ES/SD will introduce considerable vertical dispersion which is not apparent at shorter ranges. It may also be that your rifle shoots better with either 155 gr or 175-178...

    155 ELD-Ms 308 Gas Gun Powders / Loads

I have shot a bunch of Accurate 4064, H4895, and IMR 4064 in mine under 155-168 gr bullets. All seemed to work similarly well. I have also tried some 8208 XBR- but advance cautiously near max load as I have found this powder to be "peaky." I would personally try this one first. Even though...

Help with an orphan Remington Defense Rail

So good news - it turns out both a Seekins SRS bipod rail with 2" spacing, as well as the Area 419 improved bipod rail, can both accommodate the appropriate spacing and easily bolt to the bottom of the rail. Problem solved. The rail even has steel inserts for the screws so it will be quite...

Help with an orphan Remington Defense Rail

I had already seen that thread, and unfortunately those rail sections are all long gone.

Help with an orphan Remington Defense Rail

This may be a bit of a tough one. Several years ago I had purchased a few Remington Defense handguards from Brownells. They have a non index style barrel but that is steel, and tightened with a pin spanner wrench. Anyways I was going to planning to run a picatinny mount bipod on it, but I...

    200gr for 30cal loads

I actually tried this experiment a few years back. The 200-220 gr class bullets work great in the 300 BLK (as subsonic) and 300 magnum cartridges. They just do not work well in 308 semi autos. I found any load that attempted to achieve a ballistically usable velocity in a 16-18" 308 AR was very...

    Night Vision PVS-31A vs PVS-31D

I forgot to mention that these were the adjustable diopter models as well

    Night Vision PVS-31A vs PVS-31D

Steele Industries is another source... Mine were an SNR of 35/33.5, for a touch under $10k. I saw one of the pairs Ryan had at Apollo were a little better spec (SNR 34-35) but the difference was splitting hairs for me

The Cheapest AR-10? BCA-10 First Look

Seems a bit like false economy to get a "budget" 308 AR and then put a $300 adjustable carrier and a $150 hydraulic buffer in an effort to get it to run properly.

    Night Vision PVS-31A vs PVS-31D

Interestingly enough I did a bunch of research and had ended up ordering AMP arms and Axl RAC links independently... Appreciate the input and looking forward to setting it all up

Night Vision Thermal 10 yr warranty?

I believe the Eotech ClipIR also had a 10 year warranty.

    Experiences with cheaper .308 projectiles

The Hornady FMJ-BT shoots surprisingly well in certain rifles. IE not 0.75 MOA well, but many times 1.25-1.5 MOA, which is pretty darn good for a cheap bullet and light years ahead of the 147 gr NATO projectiles.

    Night Vision PVS-31A vs PVS-31D

Gotta say the PVS-31d is system that works great. No complaints. Compared to my friend's green phosphor stuff if blows it out of the water. Also the housing just works. Mine have pretty similar specs and the tubes are very clean in comparison. PS on a side note what helmet ear pro mount would...

Trail Boss alternatives for subsonic 30-06

Red Dot is a possibility. It is very fluffy and fast burning, and ignites well even with partial fill. I use it as a Trail Boss replacement in light bullet 300 BLK subsonic loads with excellent results.

What is the ideal SHTF optic?

The discussion about what optic is best when SHTF is immaterial. How this plays out is as follows - you get lightly wounded in the leg by a 22 LR, and die of sepsis 36 hrs later from a non fatal wound because the lack of access to antibiotics and medical care. That being said I have a 1-4x...

    Service rifle barrel questions

I think it would work fine. Some service rifle barrels need a different gas block. On average I think they are a little under 1 lb heavier than the average MK12/SPR barrel. All of the extra meat is under the handguard.

Best Plan for Keeping a Suppressed AR as Clean as Possible( For as Many Rounds as Possible)

There is no way to avoid the mess with shooting suppressed. Even cleaner ammo or a properly gasse weapon is still messy. You need better lube, more of it, and more frequent application. A good lube is 50/50 ATF/Mobil 1. Use synthetic high temp grease for the bolt lugs and cam pin. Wipe the...

    Sig 716 DMR Accuracy Issues

First off, an actual 5 round average of multiple groups, that is 1.25 MOA, is really quite good from a stock large frame AR. I would not complain about this at all. Have you thought about trying some lighter bullets, and better brass? A good choice is a 155 gr class bullet. Your 1/10 twist will...

    Night Vision PVS-31A vs PVS-31D

The other reason to get from a vendor besides Optics Planet is the ability to choose a unit based on tube specs. Optics Planet does not provide any of that.
