    Surgeon Action???

I have several (8, but 2 going to new homes) Surgeon based guns, GAP and Surgeon builds and love them. When it comes time for my next build other than a competition gun, it will likely again be based upon or even built by Surgeon. That said, I am building a 284 off a BAT MB action that, like...

Replies to "Thank you for your service."

Call me a pussy--but this thread makes me a bit sad. In my neck if the woods, we see and come in contact with a lot of active and past military folk. Kenai is known as Anchorage's playground and head into town often for Costco runs or a match or recreate/hunt, etc on base. I don't run...

    Ballpark fps on my load?

What brass? Just wild ass guess--2683. Shot couple different 168SMK loads Friday over my magnetospeed through a 20" LWRC. The FGMM factory was 2606 average and my handload of 42.5gr Varget in LC LR brass was 2564 average. Was testing 175's mostly, but had those two 168's to try.

    Chargemaster Mod

Same experience here. Got my brass insert few days back. Had to use a little scotch tape--around the same as above. M All charges were initially overthrown, but set my second adjustment back from 7.0grains to 8.6grains and third from .8 to 1.0 and all is grand. Still fast and was spot on...

    Gunsmithing New Barrel Fouling

I'm not strict with barrel break in, but with Bartliens and Kreigers I've had, which is several, I always see very heavy fouling for first several shots. Don't think it's from the barrel as much as the throat area of the fresh cut chamber. I won't go and spend hours shoot, clean, shoot...

    Maggie’s Good 'budget' Scotch?

+1 on Mountainman's notion of splitting a bottle. A buddy of mine an I split a bottle of 1967 Glenlivet when we finished law school--made for a very enjoyable (but rather vague) afternoon. **Holy Malt Madness--the above got me reliving old days so I jumped on-line to see about ordering a...

    Maggie’s Good 'budget' Scotch?

At Christmas look for the samplers--great way to tray a variety without dropping $4-$600 on several bottle of Scotch. You will find folks have varied tastes too. I myself, don't like Oban at all--too smokey and reminds me too much of some bad smoked gouda cheese I once had. Others love it...

No Interest for a year! 0% APR for 12 mos WAC

Good for Key Bank. Glad to see a financial institution "lending" a helping hand to shooting sports.

    This was disappointing to learn

Life's to short to live it as someone else--this is just sad, angering, bullshit all in one. Like the post on the first page about the saying whether you're a sniper, plumber or ditch digger, just be the best at it you can. Hell, good plumbers make more than most. Figure many folks in here...

SAC or GAP -- About to order a new Build.

Personally see no problem with asking input from folks on rifle builds, glass, tacticool toilet paper--it's at least part of what the site if for. I've owned and still have GAP's and love them. If ordering another rifle, would go with GAP--in fact have two there now. But, based on the...

Rifle Scopes Lowest profile Unimount wanted

Really like the NF, as an aside, one of the Hide sponsors, Eurooptic, has demo uni's available on their site for $200, save you $52. I just ordered one of the higher ones to use with a 56mm NF.

    New LWRC REPR Load Q

Great info here guys. I'm looking for an accurate mid-range gun as well. Do not see me playing with it much past 750 yards and much of the longer ranges will be on steal--but will want to get the best accuracy I can out of it. I'll try to get out and do some OCW testing with the LCLR 165's...

    New LWRC REPR Load Q

Thanks fellers. That is what I was looking for. I have a few hundred 165 and 168 bullets to play with but have all kinds of 175 and 178 and 185's as it's what I mainly shoot through my 308 bolt guns. But have used only Lapua brass for several years and wanted to get some feedback on the LCLR...

F T/R Competition Duplin bipod question

QD would prove most helpful on these. For mid range days where you change lines and take turns in the pits, I case my rifle when not on the line which means on a typical match day, this bipod goes on and off three times. Mine fits the two guns I have used it one pretty easily, but really have...

    New LWRC REPR Load Q

So broke down and bought my first AR10 last Friday. Buddy who has a local shop had been trying to talk me into this gun for a couple weeks and needed it sold--so he finally made me a deal I couldn't pass up. So proud owner of a super sexy 20" fluted Patriot Brown gas gun. Had fun this...

Rifle Scopes Nightforce customer service ?

I have 8 of their scopes presently, had couple others and only one problem so far, which wasn't my doing and is an issue they warn of. I'm a cheap bastard and like fine equipment, so buy most guns and glass second hand. Bought a rifle/scope combo while back--everything shot great, both as...

    **ROUND4 !!** 100YARD+, 6group, 30round SHOOTOUT!

Think all but one of those were run to empty. I'm going to give it another shot after I run a few more rounds the ought the barrel and get a bipod on there. Think those two issues contributed as well. My little stack of sandbags were less than perfect since the big front one is under filled...

    Bullet options for 338 Lapua

Check out the 300 Scenars. I ran into the same issue after I traded off a Lapua with Seekins bottom metal with all kinds of room and got a new, but early GAP/Surgeon XL build that has their pre-CIP bottom metal. My old favorite load was a 300 Berger, but couldn't even come remotely close...
