Here are some interesting facts about this industry, apologies if it is lengthy but worth the time to read. Thought this interesting... How shortages came about...

Just a thought that I have been trying to investigate for a while. Has it ever crossed anyone's mind that this shortage was induced by the ammunition and component companies themselves? I here all these conspiracy theories but to be quite honest none of them even remotely make sense. The Govt...

Gunsmithing Sticking cases (new 700 SPS)

I have to ask, have you checked the rifle with a set of go/no-go gauges? If he were doing something wrong in the reloading process like bumping the shoulder back too far wouldn't he have the same problem in the other rifles he is reloading for? I guess what I'm saying is if you load the same...

Replicating the Federal Gold medal match ammo?

Just a thought on duplicating a load from factory ammo, perhaps im over simplifying this but it seems through some investigation this could be done. I would say start by shooting this load over a chronograph record avg. speed. Then measure a cartridge from same batch, then pull it to recover...

How well do all-copper bullets do at long ranges?

I have tried them and couldn't ever get them to shoot in any of my rifles. I believe one of the reasons for this is the length of the bullets, they are much longer for the same weight bullet. This requires more twist to stabilize them but I think it also has something to do with the balance of...

Inconsistent seating with my new Forster Ultra Micro Die.

This wouldn't happen to be a compressed load would it? I have seen powder push bullets back out of cases on compressed loads or even when powder is loose in case and stacks higher than usual.

    Newbie questions

I would agree with others on here that you should start with a single stage press, even a turret press if you don't want to change dies. It is much easier to assemble precision ammunition when done in batches where you set up for each step. I would suggest an RCBS chargemaster to get your powder...
