Rifle Scopes Need Opinions -> ACOG

Re: Need Opinions -> ACOG I believe the ACOG best fits what it was designed to do. If you are looking to punch paper its not the best choice. It has a decent FOV and pretty good glass, but don't expect ot pick up hits at 100 yards on paper targets unless the hit is in the white. The TA01 NSN...

Advanced Marksmanship Question with "first round flier" for AR

Re: Question with "first round flier" for AR Have you ever tried loading 4 rounds and see if its different. Since it's a staggered mag it feeds from both the left and right side. Could the barrel extension feed ramps combined with magazine differences cause both different bolt speeds or...

    155 Scenars in a 300WM

Re: 155 Scenars in a 300WM I never had an issue dusting one off. I only played with them a little as I am limited to a 100 yard range now. I stopped due to I was sending 23 grains more powder than a 308 to get 200 to 400 fps. I should cook this barrel out so I can justify converting it to...

    Gunsmithing AR bolt issue

Re: AR bolt issue If it does have the wrong buffer it may be wise to have the the buffer tube removed and inspect the treads on the lower receiver and the tube. I have had an over gassed AR that even with the right buffer beat the threads out of the lower receiver.

    Gas tube cleaning??

Re: Gas tube cleaning?? First things I would look at are: -check that the gas key on top of the bolt carrier is tight -check that the gas block is positioned over the gas hole in barrel. (more of a guessing thing than a real way to check) -Gas rings on bolt -Also try loading one round and...

    Buffer tube questions

Re: Buffer tube questions Primarily you have a carbine and rifle length buffer springs. Everybody out there try's to make a better AR 15 product so you see CS springs, flat wire springs, hydraulic buffers. Rifle length buffer tubes don't need much, they always seem to run good. carbine...

    Buffer tube questions

Re: Buffer tube questions You pretty much just have to match the buffer with what buffer tube you are running. The gas port size has as much to do with it as the gas tube length. I prefer the mid length or rifle length as they don't seem to cycle as hard. I have had a bad experience with an...

    Primer Availability

Re: Primer Availability You can't blame them on not ramping up production too much. If they were selling primers as fast as we could buy them now then they would be stuck in a few months or years when we hoard all up and them don't buy for 2 years as we burn down what we have on hand. Biggest...

    Gunsmithing AR-15 DISASSEMBLY?

Re: AR-15 DISASSEMBLY? If you have a collapsible buttstock. Be sure to back off the retaining nut and try and not turn the buffer tube. Its fairly easy to damage the rear takedown detent spring. Just back off nut and slide the plate back rotate the buffertube a little and pull...

    155 Scenars in a 300WM

Re: 155 Scenars in a 300WM I have easily gotten 3250 without even pushing hard or going to much faster powdes. My barrel is near the end of its life I may have to play with RL19 or varget to see how fast I can get one from a 26"

    6mm-223 ?

Re: 6mm-223 ? Its a 6.5x47 lapua case necked down to 6mm. It can get a 105 berger bullet to 3100 FPS. Pretty effecient case. Also like 6mm BRX. A 6mm Benchrest with the shoulder blown out. Guys report once blown into shape they don't trim brass anymore. Brass trimming is the one operation I...

    6mm-223 ?

Re: 6mm-223 ? My initial 68 gn load didn't do much. I'm hoping that since I mounted a scope too low and in a hurry that poor check weld/head placement may be to blame. Of the first 10 fired, I was able to zero and adjust elevation. Group wasn't that good a group of three and another of 2 a...

    6mm-223 ?

Re: 6mm-223 ? I have one in a 20 inch AR. Looking back at some loads data I have laying around, I was pushing a Sierra 70 gn bullet at 3060 fps (with 26.7 gn Benchmark) and noted I didn't see pressure/add more powder. With the 77gn 224 bullets available you have to go to a 90 gm 6mm bullet to...

    .223 - 5.56

Re: Loads for .223- 5.56 748, BLC-2, AA2230, AA2520, and TAC are all ball powders. TAC will be a little slow for 55 grain but is sister Ramshot exterminator is more inline with the burn rate also a ball powder. I have used all these. Hd good luck with most al of them. The AA powders did seem...
