Good question. OP, what is your COAL? If you have the room to load your rounds a little longer, even a few 100th's, it could relieve the pressure on the brass. 44.2gr of H4350 is definitely on the warm side for 123's in 260. Gunsmithing 20" Barrel on 300 Win Mag
What is the purpose of this rifle? Hunting? Target shooting? Many people's initial thought is probably "why would someone want to do this?" It would be helpful to understand what you want to do with the rifle as shortening the barrel on a 300WM to 20" is not a common modification.- DT1

Nothing. Any 3-day type assault pack will work just fine for transporting your gear to/from or around the range. I'm a lot more concerned about my rifle, scope and ammo than my backpack....- DT1
