    With a 14.5" barrel he'll be stuck pinning the compensator. Might as well stick with the 16" and leave room for modification down the road.

    Go with a 16" with a midlength gas system. As your first this will allow you to multi-task the system and learn to employ it in multiple roles.

    Don't run a sling based on the cheapest way to do so. Find what works for you and run it that way. If you want a 2 point sling Gear Sector and a few other companies make QD adapters you could mount to a MOE base attached to the hand guard.

    I went with a BAD-DBM. It's made by Battle Arms Development, the same company that produces the ambi levers for ARs.

    I hunt and shoot with a FFP. SFP, from my understanding, is more of a benchrest thing. However, FFP scopes tend to cost a little more than SFP (S&B, NF etc. notwithstanding) so budgetary constraints may play a part.

    OP, you're going in circles. Read this article. Watch these videos. Least expensive way you're going to get near what you want. Every step is modifiable, but it's a start.
