I believe he's saying the opposite. This isn't cheap Chinese plastic from a child's toy. While the polymer is more prone to wear than metal, if you're not moving the light on and off the rail as a daily routine there's really nothing to be concerned about.
Why not save the money and work the bolt while watching TV? A few hundred repetitions will smooth it up quite a bit, just make sure to pull the trigger as well to smooth the entirety of the motion.
Mine look the same. You've got metal rubbing against metal, any finish is going to wear quickly. Multiple locations on your bolt and bolt carrier will eventually look the same.

Strikes me more as a preference. You can pull it into your arm a la M249 which I felt comfortable with. That, and if you use a fist under the stock you still have a place to hold onto.

The hole in the charging handle that goes over the gas tube will do the same thing. Not necessarily the entirety of the bolt, but it will hit the neck with a couple spins.
