DNT is gonna let us do a reticle

Practical when? I do not engage in combat, nor predators, nor varmints. Those three cases, sure. Are the vast majority of shooters doing this? ETA: these are just examples of a target rich environment. Even here the tree only adds value if you have someone calling dope for you while on the gun...

DNT is gonna let us do a reticle

I feel the same way about people who want tree reticles😂

DNT is gonna let us do a reticle

Yes^^^ This is effectively it^^^ Fact is I can hold a near perfect 0.3MIL hold just fine with a quarter MIL reticle. The error isn't 0.05MIL at all. The issue is always the wind estimate in the first place :)

DNT is gonna let us do a reticle

I disagree with this mentality. Nobody is holding +/- quarter minutes of wind or elevation. I ask my question because I truly don't believe fifths works as fast as quarters for anyone. I am biased as someone who reads a tape measure a lot. But it is factual that the human brain cuts things in...

DNT is gonna let us do a reticle

does everyone actually think 0.2 is better than 0.25 MIL hashes?

    Leveling scopes…tools?

no. Eyeball the scope to the rifle, and use the flashlight method or a plumbob to match the bubble level to the reticle This is both more precise, and less expensive

McMillan will inlet Mountain Tracker LR for Tikka if they get enough deposits

Ultralite stocks are for the birds. Ill take the 32oz stock over a 24oz any day. Also, Mountain Tracker LR includes recessed front pic rail, recessed arca rail, four flush cups, and a partridge in a pear tree. The bastion has three sling studs

Upgrading from Tikka CTR - 3 options want opinions

Agree with rebarrel. Hold out for someone selling a 6.5mm cut rifled blank for a deal, or just get a Shilen from NSS for $350. Chamber for $350 by anyone. Skip the fluting and cerekote

Tikka action vs. Zematt Origin action

I have both and would not do the Origin again. Especially for 300wsm. Stainless Tikka is a nobrainer option IMO for that medium-esque cartridge length. Origin minimum cost = $900 Origin comes with a pinned rail Tikka minimum (Stainless) = ~ $750 Tikka comes with good trigger, integral rail...

    Mandrel question

I have a 0.263 mandrel and bushing dies for one cartridge Necks are about 0.0145" thick, or 0.029" extra diameter For your reference, a 0.289" bushing was the largest bushing I could use prior to mandrel that gave enough neck tension to seat bullets. Its probably 0.0015 neck tension. Any less...

Rifle Scopes Scope search advice request, low light hunting

Agreed, those are most interesting to me because of the brand name. Their caveat is they have limited turret travel. Something like 3.2 or 4.8 mils only. But that would be fine for a strictly <500 yard setup
