Maggie’s NBC article on athlete with "alternative lifestyle"

Yeah, that was my reaction too. Nice story, but presenting it as an "alternative lifestyle" is pretty bizarre.

Maggie’s NBC article on athlete with "alternative lifestyle"

His alternative lifestyle? Having a wife and kid (no, really). Article link below: | NBC Olympics

    What dies to buy........

I'd also take Forster or Redding over RCBS for dies. Any of these over Lee, though.

    Colorado Range Steel Stolen

They can go after whoever brought the item in and try to get their money back, but the seller is often nowhere to be found. This is one of the reasons many of pawn shops keep pretty good logs of seller ID and contact information, and require a photo ID from the seller before they buy anything...

    Colorado Range Steel Stolen

This is not true. If you can identify/prove it was yours, it still belongs to you and you get it back without having to pay for it again. Salvage yards, pawn shops, etc. know that if they unknowingly receive stolen property they lose it once the owner comes along, so they are usually pretty...

Opinions on best billet lower with most features etc

I'm a fan of what Mega makes, but thought I'd throw Stiller into the mix since I haven't seen it posted here yet: <img src="http://www.viperactions.com/prod_pics/ar1.jpg">

Gutter trash 'gangsta' gets his due!

Most likely a security button that gets a lot more deputies in there quick.

    Giving Snipers a Bad Reputation

If we want to be all pedantic about it, a sniper is someone who is a skilled enough marksman to successfully hunt snipe. Although marksman or sharpshooter are not uncommon terms for target shooters, "sniper" in common use seems to imply killing or destroying a target. Military snipers, police...

    Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

#3 is a fine point, but the Admiral Yamamoto quote regarding there being an American with a rifle behind every blade of grass is most likely untrue - nobody's ever been able to find a record of him saying such a thing.

    Truth about Surgeon Actions?

It makes business sense for Surgeon to first supply actions for their own rifles, then to vendors with whom they have established relationships, and last to single-sale end users. If you want one, best option seems to be keeping in contact with Surgeon's vendors. For what it's worth, I...

    .260 vrs. 6.5 Creedmoor

I just made 1000 pieces of 6.5 creedmoor brass from .308. Not rocket science, but don't be surprised when you have to turn the necks to get it 100% right. John

    Law enforcement urban sniper rifle

Longrifles has a group buy that's ongoing for truing Remington 700 actions and rebarreling, among other things - have some 24" Bartlein medium palma barrels put on, and you're good to go (grizzly.com usually has the barrel blanks in stock in the $300s). John

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

Probably missed opportunity seems accurate, although the patent talk seems to have started when someone posted a screen image of AI published patent applications that have not issued. This shows that they are paying some attention to patents now, and the same reasons for patenting exist today...

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

"Very few of these guys patent shit" is exactly the point I was making - there's nothing preventing someone from admiring the work AI has done, and copying 99% of it. Badger's M2013 seems the best example so far, and if AI's relatively low cost AT becomes the success I think it will at its...

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

Those aren't patents, they are publications, and mostly ancient European ones at that. May not ever turn in to patents, or may be so narrow if they do issue that they can be easily designed around. There isn't a lot of IP preventing one from making his own AI-type rifle at this point - the...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Talk me into selling my M&P 9 and getting a Sig 226

I do like the M&P over other polymer guns, but still shoot a P226 way better. I suspect part of it is the reduced recoil felt from a heftier handgun, but it may also just fit my hands better. Makes sense to shoot them both side by side if you can, and then decide what works for you. John

Accuracy International Vs Custom for 6.5 Creedmoor

I think that's the real question - neither one would likely fail, and you'd be sitting there for years shooting under normal range conditions. If you need that last .1% reliability, or ability to shoot under sandy/frozen/whatever conditions, the AI makes sense. For others (line me), it's more...

Man shot over texting in movie theatre...by a retired cop..WTF

It wouldn't be unprecedented for someone to go get a gun, and would explain somewhat why the argument re-ignited upon his return (the phone was most likely put away by then). He says he didn't complain to the manager because he was busy, but he apparently didn't take the time to complain to any...

Man shot over texting in movie theatre...by a retired cop..WTF

We know from the reports of witnesses that after the initial altercation the shooter left the theater, ostensibly to complain to a manager, but that he did not do so. He then returned to the theater, the altercation resumed, the victim threw popcorn at the shooter, and the shooter shot and...

    Reloading flake powder for 9mm

I agree with the above posters - get something cheap like a Lee Perfect Powder Measure for $25, calibrate it to your target weight, and check every 50th round or so to ensure you're still accurate for the first batch of rounds. Much faster, and plenty accurate. John
