Super lightweight .308 match / multipurpose build?

I would just buy two different rigs. I think the carbon wrapped barrels just insulate the heat back to an already thinner barrel. A thin contoured hunting rifle is all anyone needs to shoot once or twice on occasion. While long range rigs that are shot a lot need a thick barrel.

    Isssues with Superior Tactical Solutions

One USO scope alone should put into grand theft and make it a felony, not to mention all that is coming. Selling a rifle that does not belong to you has to be really bad as well. Could be time in a federal prison depending on where and who it was sold to.

Hog Rifle for a Non-Hunting freind

Savage Hog hunter in 308 seems an obvious choice.

    Kimber mountain .308 or 30-06

Would prefer the extra punch of the 06 in hiking type hunt. One of my next guns will be a light weight 06 for that very purpose. Also, ammo availability of the 06 can't be beat in a pinch.

Higher End .243 hunter recomendation needed

Cabelas recent ad had two light weight classic Model 70s on sale, one in .257 Roberts the other a 7x57. The 257 Roberts would fit your bill and these were nice looking guns for around $1400. Love the 7x57 but you have to reload to get it up to snuff.

Help, What Action to Use and Chassis for New Build?

Badger Action of either generation and Xlr chassis, any version. Pretty simple to just answer the question. I would go with one of the .26 cal cartridges. They are fine to 1200.

    Interarms Mark X...worth rebarreling?

Nothing at all wrong with mauser actions. Leave it alone and keep hunting with it. In the ranges she should shoot at, it is plenty accurate.

Can a Savage be made into a competent tactical gun?

Frankly people compete for different reasons, not everyone expects to unseat the best of the best that our governments have in one way or another spent tons of money training. Or folks that work in the field in one way or another everyday. Some people just want to go out and enjoy the hobby...

Can a Savage be made into a competent tactical gun?

First off, in my opinion, rifles fall into two groups, those that shoot and those that don't. Nothing else even matters. Smithing will account for the reliability in loading more than one action or another with exceptions of systems like AI and some of the custom actions(where smithing is...

    Savage tactical bolt lift?

It is a modular system where you undo the rear bolt screw and replace the entire bolt knob. I really like the savage system. Glades tactical is my favorite knobs for savage.

Choosing which rifle to build upon

I love my xlr, even more than my AI chassis. Find a local guy to ceracoate or duracoat your barreled action and shoot it. Heck if you are sub 3/4 moa, it is a great rifle to start with. Send 2500-3000 rounds down range, then make a decision on a new caliber/barrel, not that a .308 will be...

Choosing which rifle to build upon

If the savage shoots as is, I would spend your money on glass, XLR Chassis, and ammo. If not, savages can be refit with quality barrels in no time versus what can be long waits for Remington's in many cases. I have customs made from both. Savage has more than enough after market options. I...

T or F ? Its only an M40A1 if it has all the right parts

Depends, for collectors value and authenticity it needs to be the real thing made by the real armorers. For shooting technology of the day and general fun, no, just build one as close as you can and enjoy it. Likely be more fun knowing that your not dicking around with an expensive piece of...

    Is anyone else worried?

Bah, the sickness you are referring to is genetic, as every generation of elder has thought the younger generations were poorly capable of doing anything right. In my opinion the last great generation was the folks that survived WWII whether on a battlefield, factory, or farm... The worst, the...

    Is anyone else worried?

My experience is vastly different, I find many young folks taking classes to learn the right way. Everyone has more money than 30 years ago even in the down economy otherwise the custom rifle shops and AI would not be growing at the rate they are. The last few tactical rifle classes I took...

I love the reference to the real M-40A5 Stock, god bless every "Sniper" Show out there seems to show a product they call an M-40AWhatever with the completely wrong stock and scope on it. Nice pickup, that whole show truly was Operator as Fuck. Next you should teach an episode on how to mill...
