What you don't understand about San Francisco

I have never tried that place but it hasn't been a BBQ joint for long. I can Endorse Sam's Bar-b-que on Bascom. Also, somewhere on the peninsula and with a high end lunch truck is Capello's Bar-b-que which is very good. I have had good Bar-b-que in SF but wouldn't go out of my way for it...

Rifle Scopes Scope Mount And Zeroing Recommendations Please

This. Almost all of the QD mounts are set up for AR height except Bobro makes one that is nice and low designed for a Mini14 or something. I'm not sure if it can be bought with 34mm rings but my 30mm version has clearance issues under the turret bell, with some scopes it just won't work. If...

Is that you on the ground?

    Gunsmithing Custom cutter

I think you could do that with one common shape tool (a bit pointy but nothing you couldn't grind by hand) and your compound. A form tool might be a bit quicker but not necessary for a small batch.

    WTF did you do?

That guy better start wearing a dress or else he's going to be treated like a normal person and get a long prison term.

    I need some direction

I think 7.62x39 is mostly let down by the SKS and AKs that shoot it along with the generally poor consistency of cheap ammo. I think the Encore can be made just about as accurate as you want if you build it right. It's also easy to add a stock when you SBR it, more ergonomic for pistol...

Stiffest upper receiver for long heavy barrel

Carrier tilt is at most a very tiny part of AR accuracy. The upper is a much bigger issue. It is what connects the barrel to the scope rail. If it flexes, the POI is going to shift from the POA. In a conventional AR upper with a male threaded snout and a long free float handguard attached to...

Stiffest upper receiver for long heavy barrel

Aero M4E1 is the budget choice. A Seekins or monolithic type upper might be a tiny bit better. I would (and have) go M4E1 upper with matching handguard and lower. Add other parts to suit.

    AR15 BCG Recommendation

You heard some bull shit. I like my Toolcraft BCGs. Nickel Boron is my favorite but Ion-bond is a close second and Nitride works fine if you are pinching pennies. I doubt I'll ever intentionally buy a parkerized BCG again if nitride or coated are available for a reasonable premium. For the...

    I need some direction

Why not get something like a T/C Encore pistol in 7.62x39?

Movie Theater Most realistic/unrealistic action/shooter movies?

I thought the action and driving sequences in Ronin were pretty good. It's too bad that Deniro is a piece of shit.

Vltor A5 with JP silent spring

The SCS is nice, less sproingy and some you can adjust the weight. It replaces the spring and buffer so there is no reason for anything A5 length unless you want a spacer (that you will have to cut to length). If you forget the SCS and go for A5, you can run really heavy A5 buffers if you need...

Vltor A5 with JP silent spring

You would need a spacer because the SCS is regular carbine length.

Sidearms & Scatterguns 10mm pistol options

Consider a Glock 21 with a conversion barrel. I still need to finish up my project (slide cut) but mine is using an older "Tactical" length Lone Wolf slide and a 6" conversion barrel. The extra length and optic should offset the lighter weight of a .45 cut slide. It should also add some...

    A good 1500 yard caliber

I'm hoping to find out if I can get close to 2,000 rounds out of a 284 Winchester before the groups open up. It's very efficient and has the legs for 1,500 yards without being too overbore.

First 6.5 CM Bolt Action Recommendations? MPA?

There are plenty of good actions out there. Figure out your ergonomics first. The MPA chassis is very flexible but it's not ideal for everyone. A few people will just not like it. That Tikka, I guess someone thinks it needs a continuous rail above the barrel. The scope is mounted about an...

He could do that with his .308.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Best EDC Pocket Knife?

If you can't get S35VN sharp, your edge geometry or heat treat isn't right. I have a S35VN knife that can shave hair off of A hair (not a typo or exaggeration). It holds an edge pretty well too but it's not a chopper at all.

I'm down to two choices for a new rifle...help please.

I don't think 600 yards is going to be a challenge for any good .223. With that in mind, I would consider trying to get a mini-mauser action with a 16-18" barrel in a more sporter type profile. Less MV will be a slight handicap and a barrel that you have to worry about heating up too much...
