Rifle Scopes Clearidge Ultra XP5 4.5-22x50

Re: Clearidge Ultra XP5 4.5-22x50 Interested...How's the eye box? I was reading Chuck Hawks about the Nitrex branded Weavers, and that was an issue. I also found a small eye box to be an issue with other scopes which push up again price points, and hope that isn't the case with Clearidge.

Rifle Scopes Best hunting scope for $. help!!!

Re: Best hunting scope for $. help!!! Thanks for the tip on the Nitrex. I forgot about them. For ultra cheap, Pentax Pioneer is unbeatable, if CameralandNY still has them for $100. Same as Burris Fulfield.

    Every Day Tactical Belt

Re: Every Day Tactical Belt I wear my Wilderness FF 5 stitch all the time and planned to buy another in a diff color, so I can leave them in 2 pair, ready to pull on. The belt will start fraying later if you sand off the raised letters on one of the rings, unless they have stopped making...

    Magpul MOE Handguard

Re: Magpul MOE Handguard This is strange to me: both of my middies were built with triangle caps: Noveske N4 by Grant at G&R, and a BCM. I have used 2 different handguards on each, and both fit. That would stink if the MOE won't, since I was planning on getting one...

Rifle Scopes Co-witnessing front sight ?

Re: Co-witnessing front sight ? I like co-witness. Once you get used to it, it's fast for target acquisition. If you have a fold down rear BUIS (Troy for metal, or Magpul for less $), you can put it down if you want. Regardless, just sight it in with the irons, then adjust the dot just...

Looking for ideas on a good first AR

Re: Looking for ideas on a good first AR seriously you should go to m4carbine.net, especially the tech forums, and the FAQs. But also spend most of that time reading, not posting.

    Rifle Scopes Cheep Binos??

Re: Cheep Binos?? I showed my Zen Ray Vistas to a buddy who has all Swaro stuff and his comment was, crap, that's a lot of glass for almost no money. They are the 2010 model with silver prism coating and phase correction. I didn't figure out what all that meant, but am very happy with them...

Why "breaking in" a barrel is NOT necessary

Re: Why "breaking in" a barrel is NOT necessary I sent my buddy that link from the builder (schumann?) who is critical of ammonia, since I gave him a bottle of Sweet's for a present last year. He said he could be talked into a quick scrub and light lube anyhow, as I have been telling him...

RRA Varmint - 24" barrel worth it?

Re: RRA Varmint - 24" barrel worth it? I don't know RRA offerings on gas systems, but on DPMS I'm fairly certain the 18" barrel comes with carbine gas. I'd want a rifle length on a 20"...so maybe check on that before you decide.

    Rifle Scopes Cheep Binos??

Re: Cheep Binos?? I'd get those PCF WPIIs from gr8tfulDoug, or what I got: ZenRay 10x42s from ceylonc (SH member). They are awesome for the $$.

    6.8 AR 15

Re: 6.8 AR 15 As above it's a fine round for hunting to 300, and longer if you are capable. I don't see the problem with $1 per round, since that's what I expect to pay for any good ammo anyhow.

    Ar-15 Variant

Re: Ar-15 Variant I went down this road but decided to sell my 6.8 in favor of a 308. I like being able to get my ammo anywhere, and knowing the 308 will be enough at 300.

Looking for ideas on a good first AR

Re: Looking for ideas on a good first AR For optics in that range you can't do better than a $100 Pentax Pioneer from CameraLand NY and a Burris or SWFA forward mount. Seriously, I had no problems with a $20 Leapers holding my scope, except that it is so low it won't clear my Troy folding...

    Quietest muzzle brake for 308?

Re: Quietest muzzle brake for 308? If you are thinking Levang, check out the Dragon Head for $39.50 from Black Hole Weaponry: .936" diameter Adds about 1.5 inches to the OAL of your barrel 5 ports facing down range to keep muzzle blast and noise away from the shooter and by-standers Tightens...

    .308 AR type

Re: .308 AR type I would only go with KAC/DPMS/P-mag compatible. From there, my choice would be: 1. LMT 2. DPMS if I had to buy now and didn't have enough money for #1 3. KAC if I had lots of money 4. Colt if I could wait: http://www.defensereview.com/dr-exclusiv...try-forces-gif/

Looking for ideas on a good first AR

Re: Looking for ideas on a good first AR Get a BCM. I suppose tactical feel means you don't want a 20", although that would be good for hunting bullet ballistics. If you are truly close enough to make good shots on deer, I assume you are using good 68+ gr ammo, and short range. With...

    Accuracy Wedge?

Re: Accuracy Wedge? I challenge you to hold your AR so loosely that the wedge will help, all while shooting for accuracy. My mind has a hard time understanding how that would practically help in shooting...other than misplaced confidence. I bought a used AR with one installed, and it was a...

AR barrel advice for using 50-55gr 223 ammo

Re: AR barrel advice for using 50-55gr 223 ammo http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=63446 "A semi-automatic AR-15 is not going to shoot as accurately as a precision bolt-gun, but today’s precision AR-15s are capable of a level of accuracy that is truly outstanding for a semi-automatic...

AR barrel advice for using 50-55gr 223 ammo

Re: AR barrel advice for using 50-55gr 223 ammo I have no accuracy problems with 1:7 twist and 55 grain. From what I've read, that becomes an issue more with varmint bullets in lighter weights, although I've never tried 'em. Noveske N4 16" mid-length.
