    GunKote has a great air dry if you don't have an oven to use their baked finish. You still need to do all the prep as usual but results are excellent. AlumaHyde from Brownells is also very good and minimal prep, no baking. Buy some extra nozzles though as they tend to plug easy.

    I do a LOT of bolt knob installs and would say any form of "filling in" will look cobbed so avoid that. If it is simply being stopped because it is bottoming out inside, then I would not hesitate to shorten the threaded portion of the handle then give it a little chamfer to start the threads...

    Works very well assuming you have a full rail (one piece). As a custom rifle builder, many times a two piece base is used (customer choice) and then a fixture as shown would do the job though I have other methods that work nicely for me. As was stated earlier - there are many ways to skin a cat.

    I have not tried bead blasting - I use aluminum oxide 120 grit - that is what KG recommends for the prep work.

    Properly applied Baked Cerakote or GunKote will require blasting to remove. If you were able to remove it as you said, then I would suspect this is not CeraKote or GunKote.
