Because it's my rifle, and I'll do whatever I want with it.

    .308 Winchester

URL=http://smg.photobucket.com/user/RasperThornguage/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps3e470c81.jpg.html][/URL] Toying around with new loads in my 5R, think I found a sweet spot. SSA brass FL sized, 168gr Hornady HPBT, federal 210m primer, 43.5 gr IMR 4064 set at 2.800" COAL. I discounted that...

    Full length sizing primed brass?

Hey all, just a quick question hoping y'all can help out. A friend of mine is moving and giving away a bunch of loading gear. He gave me ~50 once fired .308 lapua casings, a bunch of different heads (scenars, SMK, accubonds etc) and about 80 already loaded (once fired brass) hand loads. Now...

OGIVE vs COAL measuring, what do I need and how do I do it?

My man, hookin' it up with a good thread. Thanks djskit!

OGIVE vs COAL measuring, what do I need and how do I do it?

From what I understand, Hornady makes the comparator gauge with a modified case that allows you to seat the bullet you're using, chamber the "round", push the bullet into the lands, lock it. Then you can measure the OGIVE using the comparator insert from sinclair, and subtract say .010" off the...

OGIVE vs COAL measuring, what do I need and how do I do it?

Hey all, so last night I was loading up some .308 rounds for load testing using Hornady HPBT 168's. I was seating them to 2.800" COAL, but noticed a variance of +/- .006 per round, with a few being right at 2.800" I notice dthe jacketing at the tip was NOT uniform on a lot of rounds and this is...

FGMM/SSA/Remington Brass, which would you choose if you had to?

Thanks for the input guys, the SSA was literally bought and fired last week, so i'd say it's fairly newer than 2007. Maybe i'll just make up some loads in all 3, and see how it goes from there. I'm not going to be pushing max loads, so I'm not TOO worried.

FGMM/SSA/Remington Brass, which would you choose if you had to?

Hey guys, I know from experience (and obviously tons of input on here) that the normal go-to for brass is generally Winchester, Lapua and Norma for .308 load development. That being said, i'm just getting back into reloading and I have a bunch of brass to use to start doing some load...

Gunsmithing Timney Calvin Elite Trigger for Remmy 700????

interesting, I absolutely loved the 510 i bought last time, i'm kinda curious how it could be better now....time to save some side work cash!

Advanced Marksmanship Catching ejected brass questions.

I do this exactly for the same reason as a few others in this thread, to catch my brass to reload. Keeps them from dinging and scratching. Also, it keeps the brass scavengers from picking mine up when i'm not looking! Also, helps me keep track of round count at the end of the day if i'm not...

Gunsmithing Timney Calvin Elite Trigger for Remmy 700????

Hey all, I was browsing Timney's website just now, looking to buy another trigger set and came across the "Calvin Elite" trigger they carry. Now, what exactly is making this trigger unit $75 more than the already proven 510 trigger??? Just curious.

    Cleaning rod and bore guide

I've been using a Possum Hollow bore guide and Tipton carbon fiber cleaning rod for ~3 years now with no issues. Affordable and great quality. The Bore Guide is literally a nylon tube, can't get more simple than that.

Opinions on Black Hills .308 vs FGMM? 5R Milspec

So I went to the range weds, the 168 BH shot amazingly. 175's not so much, I'm thinking when I tailor a load for it, i'm going to stick with the Hornady 168 BTHP.

Opinions on Black Hills .308 vs FGMM? 5R Milspec

Cool, thanks for all the input guys! Unfortunately no FGMM is to be found anywhere here, however they had pretty much every other major factory match stuff. I was going to try sellier and bellot but at $42/box, no way. I grabbed 2 boxes each of BH 168/175 and 2 boxes of SSA 168. Gonna do some...

Opinions on Black Hills .308 vs FGMM? 5R Milspec

Hey all, been a long time since i've posted here and come bearing a question. Back when I was shooting bolt guns more, I always stuck to FGMM as my go-to (factory) ammo for both my Remington 700 AAC-SD as well as my SPS-V before I was handloading. Despite the different twist rates, they always...

    Rifle Scopes Lapping scope rings?

Only time i've had to Lap rings was with cheap 1" steel weavers. Otherwise, no issues with any of my vortex/swfa/seekins.

Gunsmithing Do I need pillars installed if using MCS mini chassis?

Hey all, quick question. I'm looking to order a Manners T4 direct from the factory and i'm deciding to have the mini chassis installed for BDL for Remington 700 (hinged floor plate). It gives me the option of having pillars installed later on in the stock configuator. Do I need pillars? Or does...

Rifle Scopes Need opinions on which set up to go with on SPS-V

Hey all, i'm really at stand-still as far as which optic to go with for my upcoming build and i'm looking for some good input. Here's the situation: I built two Rem 700 2 years ago, both were tack drivers for a low-cost rifle (AAC-SD and SPS-V). I had to sell them both due some money crisis...
