    Gunsmithing Replaceing FN dbm setup?

Re: Replaceing FN dbm setup? Call up Winchester/Browning Service/Parts. I needed some magazine boxes, spring and follower and they had what I needed. FN told me to call Winchester when I talked to them about it.

    Gunsmithing Overheating...(Gunsmith Opinions)

Re: Overheating..Is This Normal?? Clean your barrel real well, then send it out for Croygenic treatment. I sounds like there is stress in the steel and the barrel is warping a tad as it heats up. Under cooler conditions I would guess the barrel doesn't get to the point it starts drifting...

Gunsmithing No "Trigger Creep" in cocked but creep in decocked

Re: No "Trigger Creep" in cocked but creep in decocked What you're feeling is the 'overtravel', meaning after the sear has released, the movement the trigger will make before stopping. Some like a lot, most like minimal overtravel. 'Creep' would be the amount of trigger travel you feel...

    Gunsmithing Lothar walther barrels???

Re: Lothar walther barrels??? I've used L-W barrels on many AR builds, and without fail every one of them was a 'shooter'. 1/2 MOA being the norm. I'm now using a few Rock Creek OEM button barrels I have lapped after production, and they've been shooting very well also.

Gunsmithing Seekins lower & stuck bolt catch plunger - help!

Re: Seekins lower & stuck bolt catch plunger - hel I've dealt with quite a few of those on hard used rifles, what can happen is the bolt catch is levered in or impacted with force that swages the hole smaller at the opening. Usually just a sharp pointy steel tool rubbed around the edge of...

Gunsmithing Is the R700 SA OK for the 6x47 ?

Re: Is the R700 SA OK for the 6x47 ? You need to figure out which cartridge you're talking about. The 'old' 6X47 was a wildcatted round based off the 222 Remington Magnum...so think of a 223 necked up (just a little longer). Now the 6mmX47 Lapua is a totally different animal based off the...

    Gunsmithing HALP!! I need a gunsmith's opinion!!!!

Re: HALP!! I need a gunsmith's opinion!!!! Check out Dan Lilja's site, I believe he's got some info/pics on there of some test or prototype barrels that were exactly that. Threaded ends with couplings that were connected to extend a bore.

    Gunsmithing Melonite extending barrel life?

Re: Melonite extending barrel life? I was under the impression it wasn't a good idea for actions due to the temperatures involved...upwards of 1100 degrees, which certainly would F* up the temper on a heattreated action... ?.

    Gunsmithing Melonite extending barrel life?

Re: Melonite extending barrel life? I haven't tried it YET, but am anxious to. I know of a benchrest shooter that had it done to a few barrels and has no complaints about the accuracy afterwards. It does case harden the surface substantially and I don't think there are any issues with...

    Gunsmithing Trouble with cold boreing

Re: Trouble with cold boreing Have it cryo'd. Badger Cryogenics in Baraboo, WI can do that for you reasonably and very quick. If the barrel is changing POI from cold to hot (good or bad either way) I'd try a cryo stress relief.

Harold Fredd rifles lets see 'em

Re: Harold Fredd rifles lets see 'em Not much you can do when you don't have a barrel to screw on is there???? Oh yes, Donovan took care of that also as he would call Harold, then call Rock, Rock would call Harold to let him know a barrel was incoming, then Donovan would call Harold to tell...

Harold Fredd rifles lets see 'em

Re: Harold Fredd rifles lets see 'em I hesitate to say anything here, but I know Harold well, and have been friends for some time now. If he won't say it I will. Donovan got more than he deserved. Ask Donovan how many times he called Rock Creek AND Harold DAILY...basically making an...
