    Irrelevant yes but informative. Given you just want center of mass-- not looking for tight holes, I have to chuckle at any mention of recoil. It's a 308 for fooks sake! If you don't like the recoil, do some pushups!

    Please help me with my bolt action extraction problem

    Try dropping your powder. Last weekend shot out (5) of 1x fired Hornady case, FL Sized in Forester, 300gr Scenars, 95gr N570. No extraction problems. Still had room in the case for more powder. No pressure signs. Haven't had a single extraction problem, thank God.

    universal decap .338?

    +1 to what Chris says. In mine (both Lee Universal and Lyman Universal) it's crunch time on the bottom 1/2" of case. I wanted to do some cleaning before resizing and have a drift punch that works perfectly, but it's still a PITA. What do folks use to decap 50BMG rounds?

    What should the clearance be in my magazine?

    Both brands of mags I use are 2.820 inside. On the DPMS mags, I cannot load longer than 2.810 or I have FtF. On the others (brand unknown) I have loaded to 2.816 without problems. However, on the unknown set, I do have to be careful in how I load the rounds into the magazine.

    Btw, if you haven't de-oiled the powder drop unit and measure cylinder, do so before you load any powder. Oil+powder=ball_of_sheit.

    I haven't loaded Custom Comps. However Nosler Ballistic Tip BTs and CombiTech HPBTs in 180 gr. DPMS 16" 308 Over 4064 it's like scatter shot. I have much better results over RL17 or N550 - 43.0 to 43.5gr. PS, my wife loves your avatar.
