Make sure its run with alot of lube on the races of the bolt carrier (there are 4 of them 1 o'clock, 5, 7, 10 o'clock) and a very small drop on the rear (butt stock side) of the bolt lugs. Buy a good adjustable gas block ( I like the ones made buy SLR rifleworks). Shoot the hell out of it. My...
I bought a mega monolithic. I am also running 1.26" seekins rings. The rings give a good sight picture. I think to get a good sight picture without an elevated cheek piece you'd need around 1" high rings. I think that is why gap does the forearm the way that they do ( without the middle...
I think that the bolt locked to the rear is not as big of a deal as it may seem for AR's because if you game it (and every one does) you load more mags with the correct round count. Be sure to keep an extra loaded mag for SHTF. Most LR/tactical matches here in Texas have a round limit per stage...
Because muzzle brakes help lessen recoil. They also help you to spot your own shots at distance when you are in a compromised shooting position. Why do people feel the need to buy firearms, hammers and pitch forks worked just fine with no recoil.
I agree on the above statements. With that being said, I'd do it again. I think that it helps and the groups are now easy sub moa (after a barrel change to rainiers select match).
Probably easiest to go with the monolithic rail system. I think my badger mount is 1.49" high. My scope objective is 2.365" so figure half is 1.18". I'd need around 1.26" scope ring height. I just wanted the scope as low as possible.
I am about to build a lr308. I do not want to use a cheek riser or a extendable stock like the prs. I will be running a bushnell elite 3.5-21x50. The last time I looked at doing this I needed a forward extended one piece mount to stay on the reciever and keep from getting on the forearm Still...
GAP10 first JP second. However most DPMS LR308's with stainless long barrels will shoot very well. I watched Morgan Lamprick Shoot a bone stock Long range DPMS (6.5 creedmoore) out at Rifles only and tear up the bolt actions. I think he placed 4th. Personally I'd go with the 6.5 creedmoore round.
most of the dpms lr308's I seen will shoot good. Most 16" barrels I have seen are way over gassed. Might think about getting an adjustable gas block depending on where your brass is landing.
I have a Recce5 and love it I use it on my patrol rifle (ar15) and also on my .223 bolt action. I was surprised at the amount of suppression on the AR15 (14" barrel) and the accuracy on the bolt action!
