    Perfect Rifle For PRS

There are definite advantages to having a custom action over a factory Remington or Winchester or Savage. Reliability, specifically with the Surgeon action. Surgeon's have a true one piece machined bolt body and handle. Surgeon's have a scope rail and recoil lug machined into the receiver...

    M40a1 build guide

Thanks for the kind offer but I think I will pass. You would hopefully paint it up with the same care and expertise that your issue weapon will receive but in the back of my head it just seems like I would be opening myself up to a real "unique" paint scheme. It could end up like anything, a...

    M40a1 build guide

I looked thru this thread looking for some examples of the paint jobs used on the originals but only saw one about 10 pages back. Does anybody have some good original pictures to post of the camo work done after the rifles were deployed?

Is a rangefinder a "necessary" part of LRS?

If you are "only" going to shoot out to 1000 yards or a bit further I think you are overestimating the money you need to spend for a LRF. While I definitely agree with your philosophy of buying the best you can afford rather than regretting your purchase in the future, good range finders with...

the 6.5 Grendel gets one last try

I had a similar issue with my two Grendel builds that I assembled myself. Bitched and whined and tried everything I could think of but neither would shoot better than about 1.5" groups at 100 yards. A friend, who is not a gunsmith but knows a lot about AR's and accurate bolt rifles offered to...

Rifle Scopes Economical scope with FFP moa/moa?

For that budget you will probably be compromising on your wish list. Good quality tactical scopes with all the bells and whistles are in the $2000 to $3500 price range. First Focal Plane is essential for ranging at multiple magnifications (as you mentioned) but is also essential to shoot...

Thoughts on a 6.5 grendel long range precision rifle for my daughter?

I have been in the same situation as you except it is my granddaughter that is interested in shooting with me in tactical matches. When she was about 12 years old I bought an AR that could be set up for her small frame and have uppers in both .223 and in 6.5 Grendel. The adjustable buttstock...

Rifle Scopes Leupold M3 3-10x question

I have an older Leupold M3 3.5-10x scope and was wondering if this model was ever utilized by the military on any of the various issued sniper rifles. If so, which ones made use of it?

    What are you reading?

Start off with "Game of Thrones" the first book in the Fire and Ice series of books. Not for people who like their books short and to the point. Each book in the series is nearly 1000 pages of small print, which is a good reason to read them on a tablet. I read the five books over a three month...

Rifle Scopes Older Leupold M3..can the knobs be updated from MOA to MILS ??

Thanks for the reply. I already have a custom turrent with my yardage come-up's. Presumably that is what you are talking about. What I want would require a different internal thread pitch on the windage and elevation adjustments.

Rifle Scopes Older Leupold M3..can the knobs be updated from MOA to MILS ??

Like the title says, I have an older Leupold 3.5-10 M3 scope that I really like for general use. Only problem is that while the reticle is a Mil Dot style the windage and elevation adjustments are in MOA. Is there an outfit that can change the adjustment over to Mil clicks?

    Rifle Scopes Leup MK6 3-18x44 beyond 1000y?

My concern is the range of adjustment. The Leupold website lists that particular scope as having 100 moa of total elevation adjustment. If you presume a 20 moa base and everything being well centered it should give you about 70 moa of adjustment. Call it 60 to be safe. Will that get your...

    Rifle Scopes Mil Dot Clarification/Help

First off, check into getting this PC software program. It will help quite a lot. ShooterReady Second, you are getting confused between the concept of using the reticle for ranging a target and actually taking a shot at a specific distance. When you mil a target of known size you get a...

Movie Theater Kardashian drama show to be cancelled.

It is TV rather than movie news but I saw where the Kardashian show is going to be cancelled. Amazing how a little thing like that can make me really really really happy. Npw if Honey Boo Boo could fade away I would be even more happy.

Rifle Scopes School me on 1" vs 30mm vs 34mm

What about the "brightness" that can be seen thru a scope at a given magnification? Put another way, does the 1" body cut down on the amount of light that travels thru the bell and thru the body over a larger body? Is there some sort of relationship between the bell diameter and the body...
