Cant Decide between Stiller and Defiance?

Defiance, but stiller if $$ is a consideration. Both are great actions, neither will be more accurate than the other.

    Unthreaded/Blank Thread Protector

I am going to add a muzzle brake to it, a badger thruster. The thruster can be turned down to any diameter as long as it's .100 larger than the thread size. I would like to contour the thruster very close to the dia of my barrel. If I do this then a 5/8 would be 0.025 too big...maybe not enough...

    Unthreaded/Blank Thread Protector

Does anyone make a blank or unthreaded thread protector? I'm going to have a sporter contour (#3) barrel threaded for a brake and don't know what thread size will be used.

    Fluting a rem varmint

How much weight can be removed from a rem varmint contour? It's a 9 twist 7mm barrel that is 29 inches long right now. Was looking to flute and cut it back to 26 inches. Anyone have a rough idea what fluting can remove (spiral for max reduction)? What will cutting 3 inches off give...

    30-06 or 6.5x55 or 6.5x284 or 284 or ???

I will be hand loading. It will be for paper and steel out to 1000 yards. I will also hunt whitetails with it. Right now a 308 is my round of choice, looking for something that bucks wind better out to 1k. 280ai is in the running

    30-06 or 6.5x55 or 6.5x284 or 284 or ???

I"m looking at building something on a long action, .308 bolt face action. I would like something that is inherently accurate, has good barrel life and is easy on the shoulder. I know the 6.5x284 is known as a barrel burner, but I'm thinking with h1000 it might last a while? 6.5x55...

I've been down there twice and have known Tooter for several years. He's a darn good smith, and good at everything else he touches too.

    Lightest DBM

Apa's web site says 8 oz with a mag, maybe a typo? Surgeons says 6 oz without a mag. R&D is 10 oz without a mag. Not sure on badger.

    Stock for mtu contour

What is the lightest stock that would accommodate a 20 inch mtu contour barrel, and not throw off balance terribly? This will be for a heavy hunting rig slash LR steel shooting rifle. It will spend more time on the bench than the woods, but it would go to the woods every time I go during rifle...
