New reloading strategy, comments wanted.. :)

I know of several people who take their gear to the range and work up a load right there. If you could back your truck up to your shooting bench and the conditions were good (no wind, rain, BooBoos wanting to bother you, etc) it would probably be good.

    Pissed at Hornady.........Maybe!

I'm not sure if you are seeing the primer crimp or the wall of the primer. I've had some Hornady brass (and others too, it's not just Hornady) leave the wall of the primer in the case but pop the primer cap off when I've deprimed it. You can use a drill bit to get it out but it's a pain in...

Tips for a guy thinking about Giraud

What Chris said (except the wait time on the trimmers and annealers is now 12 weeks). I've got 2 of them (1 for 22 caliber and 1 for 30 cal) that I bought several years ago and these are the way to go for trimming bulk. I bought the 1st one when I had over 5,000 pcs of .223 to trim and...

    Flat Primer

I've seen cases bulged like that (and worse) but that's definitely the worst hammered primer I've ever seen!

    My first load development!

    I agree! (I'm all 3-reloader/hoarder/OCD.....BIG TIME!).

    BERDAN primers

I've got so much Berdan primed brass thrown in the scrap bin (probably a couple of hundred pounds), it's ridiculous! But like Chris said, I have so much Boxer primed brass in pretty much everything that having to make the hydro-press or find Berdan primers more trouble than they are worth...

    Definitive Overpressure signs

I've received a few pieces of brass in trade that had this done and I had wondered about it because most people I know who reload (myself included) normally just load a batch and put the load data on the box. I never really thought about if someone should get into my reloads and mix them...

    Brass sorting

I consider .223 to be those that are stamped "223 Rem", everything else is 5.56. Back when I was getting brass together for myself, I seperated everything by headstamp (even year) and when I would get 1,000 pcs of the same headstamp, it was bagged, tagged, and put away for later use. Now...

Karma - Free To Good Home - 300 WSM Brass

2nds on the 300 WSM brass. If the brass lot also had any 270 WSM or 257 weatherby that you can't use, I'd be thankful to take them off your hands. ETA: just noticed the ad was over 2 months old......(still interested though).

    Who "crimps?"

+1, I do the same thing using the Lee FCD.

Is there something wrong with compressed loads?

I hadn't heard of anything like that happening before but that was sorta what I thought might could happen. I never bothered to ask them if they mixed the filler in with the powder, placed it on top of the charge, or....? My thought at the time was why not just use a bulkier powder.....

Is there something wrong with compressed loads?

Not to highjack the thread but more to go along with it. I've never done it but I've heard others say that they have used filler to take up the dead space when the powder doesn't fill up the case. Is this a good idea and if so, could you add a little more filler to make a compressed load or...

anyone need 7 or 300 RUM brass?

Jake, Usually, that's a pretty decent price for RUM brass (if it's new). You can get it a little cheaper from BHSS if you are a "Dealer" but not much. If it's 1x fired he might take awhile getting rid of it at that price as it "normally" used to go for about $0.50 each but then again, these...

    Lee Case Length Gauge

Well said Fuzzball. As I said, the Lee case length gauges work. I am "the guy above who bought 30 of them, No Thanks!" that Chris likes.....the 30 (more or less) LCLG's that I have cost around $150.00 total. Yes, that's about 3 times what a Lyman Universal used to go for (don't know...

Frankford Primer Tube Filler, Quick Look

I bought mine 7 or 8 years ago back when they were around $30.00. Then they became unavailable and I saw some people giving as much as $100.00 for one. So I was glad to see when they brought them back. I've thought about getting a second, just to have a spare. Like you say (and can see)...

Hornady LNL AP auto case feeder

I have both a "Red" one and a "Blue" one. They both have little "quirks" but either one definitely beats feeding cases by hand. I had also bought the Hornady Bullet Feeder for 40 S&W when it 1st came out. I couldn't get that to work at all (bullets wouldn't make it down the tube to the feed...

    Lee Case Length Gauge

I've got Lee Case Length Gauges in close to 30 different calibers. They work and I use them all. The only one I am having trouble with is the new 300 BLK trimmer and I'm going to send it back and exchange it. FWIW, I also have 3 lyman manual trimmers and 1 RCBS Power Pro trimmer (I no longer...

Switched from Cabelas polish to NuFinish with some Great results!

Same here except I hadn't heard about cutting it with mineral spirits. I'll have to give that a try next time.

    Fed up with stuck cases

I only have 1 Forster die (300BLK) so I can't answer that question. I have used the One Shot and never had a problem with a stuck case although I didn't care for it much and bought a bottle of Dillon lube. It was too expensive so I started making my own (same thing, lanolin & alcohol). I...
