Rifle Scopes New Leatherwood/Hi-lux ART scopes

Re: New Leatherwood/Hi-lux ART scopes Well,I was considering the M-1200. Don't like shooting at 300yds on 3x. But it looks like you could just use it like a regular mil dot scope if you want,so....just wondering how good they hold up and how good the optics are. Not gonna take the Zeiss off...

    Hunting & Fishing moving targets

Re: moving targets Yeah,to tell the truth,I swing on 'em and at 150yds-front of shoulder,100 and in middle of shoulder.Sometimes break 'em down and have to shoot 'em again(damn I hate that....not!) Any farther and I hope they stop and shoot at 'em then.

M1A...any good for medium/ lomg range shooting?

Re: M1A...any good for medium/ lomg range shooting? MGD45, my rifle is set up almost just like yours. Same sling and cheek pad anyways. Never doubt that these rifles can shoot and are reliable as h**l! Get on youtube and search M-14 and look at all the ones the snipers are using over in the...

    Hunting & Fishing moving targets

Re: moving targets I like your math,Skinney! Easier than the way I did it. I figured 328ft to the dog. The 3200ft/sec bullet will take 0.1025 sec's to get there. The dog is moving at 35ft/sec so in 0.1025 sec's he would get 3.5875 ft. while the bullet was in flight. Looks like either way...

Hunting & Fishing .308 Hunting bullet

Re: .308 Hunting bullet I killed a doe this year with a 168gr smk(FGGM),but after seeing the exit wound I wouldn't use them again.Hardly any expansion. Just wanted to see for myself. Used 168 Amax(HSM Match) on the next deer with much better results. Went ahead and bought a case of it so I...

Rifle Scopes Range estimation using zoom

Re: Range estimation using zoom Thanks SSCoyote. Yes they are. GCMxVeGeTa what I did was set up stakes in the ground with 36" marked on them at the different distances I needed and "calabrated" my scopes by scratching a mark on the power ring when the mils read correctly for the distance and...

Rifle Scopes Range estimation using zoom

Re: Range estimation using zoom I use it for rough estimates on deer. A deers chest is about 18" The mils on my scope are correct at 10 power. So if I bracket 18" in 2 mils the range is 250 yards with the scope on 10x. .5yds x 1000 ________________= 250 2 mils So then if I bracket...

Rifle Scopes Range estimation using zoom

Do any of you with variable power second focal plane scopes w/ mildots use your power settings to estimate range? I don't see much discussion of this.

Rifle Scopes formula for mil-dots=2 mils?

Re: formula for mil-dots=2 mils? Brasscow is right about shooting to see introducing error. I would just put a 3.6" mark at 100yds. Zoom untill you you fit 1 mil on that mark and that is where your scope is right. Mark it on your scope.
