    6.5 Creedmoor Average Velocity?

    It’s not the lack of speed as such it’s the amount of powder up it’s butt for the speed I’m getting. I’d be very happy with 2740 if I was using 41.8gr not 42.8gr. It shoots good with 1/2 to 3/4 moa most of the time.

    Sizer not sizing all brass the same??

    One thing I’ve noticed is that if you up stroke quickly, ie withdrawl the case out of the die too fast, it can stretch the case a little. As others have mentioned the correct lube helps. Do this part of the stroke slowly and smoothly until you feel the case “comes away” from the die.

    Cheat! I didn’t take my ejector out either but I did a work around that made it easy. I did destroy a case tho but I got a repeatable reading that I’m confident in. Worked a treat! Just make sure the dummy round has low runout or that can give false readings.

    Closing Bolt Problem.

    I’ve found if there’s a bit much runout the bolt won’t freely drop. I’m only talking 4 or so thou. I found this when I tried to find my lands. Once I used a dummy round with under 1 thou I got consistent results. Just something to be aware of.

    No he quoted it in US$. Taxes are extra once they arrive in NZ. And would be about NZ$300. I asked why the different price and I’ve never received a reply. Maybe he meant CA$ but the email stated US. Maybe he made a mistake.

    Skookum...... just to add to your theory. I looked back at my development and found pressure signs starting around 43.4 but it was slight. 43.6 was beginning to be noticeable and 43.8 was definite. I’m now playing with loads around 42.6 - 42.8 so that’s right in your sweet spot.

    how long do you keep your brass in the sizing die?

    I’ve found that it’s also important how you do the up stroke of the handle. If you go too fast it seems to stretch the brass back up and gives inconsistent bump. That’s what I’ve experienced anyway.

    Howa HCR 6.5CM 140 ELD-M CBTO just touching with the Hornady 5-26 insert in mine is 2.271” A good load at this stage is at 2.2555. This is using the semi stripped bolt method. Semi stripped as in the ejector is still in the bolt as it’s a bugger to get out so I grind a relief in the case so...
