Re: play in bolt/receiver interface?
Yep,
Roscoe nailed it. All of my Remington rifles have a bit of play, including my 5R. Where are you located in KY?
Re: Best barrel, K98 / hunting?
Bohem,
What stock do you have on that K98? My roommate just bought a K98 with the same stock, re-barreled with a fluted .22-250.
Re: I went and did it this time
Interesting, i'm the same way. With larger hands, a 1911 is difficult for me to aim comfortably. I've tried the Ergo and currently run the MIAD on my AR's and dig them. The Ergo was just average. I may have to give the Hogue a spin.
Re: 1903A4
That's a pretty cool rifle for a replica, and $995 doesn't seem bad. You should be able to find the real deal for a few hundred less than that, though it won't have a replica scope, mount, etc.
Re: Remington Milspec 5R .308
Great entry level rifle. There are lower cost options, but if you want a solid stock and stainless barrel in a factory rifle, it's a great place to start.
Re: CQB Rifle barrel length question
If it were my choice, i'd go with an 11.5" and a KX3. But many folks here have a good point. The 14.5 is compact enough, and with a suppressor it will be a pleasure to shoot and use.
Re: I went and did it this time
Looks like she shoots! I love Rock River stuff. I've got a heavy barrel 16" from them that is an absolute tack driver. How do you like the grip on the 1911?
Re: Which upper to use for an AR build?
+1
SunDevil makes some great stuff. I've got a rifle built around their lower and I couldn't be happier with it. Very nice machining and has proven to be very durable. I'd say the same goes for their upper, too.
Re: Considering a FN PBR
I've had some experience with the PBR, and own an SPR. They are both solid shooters, and the Winchester action is wonderful. I'd go for it.
Re: First Precision Rifle...is this worth it..?
A 5R is an awesome rifle to start with. Like what was said before, there are less expensive options, but if you can foot the bill, the 5R will work wonderfully for you. I've got one in .223 and I love it.
Re: Got Actions? South Paw Heaven!
Interesting. I've always toyed with the idea of getting a lefty action for this reason...but I doubt that will be any time soon.
Re: precision rifles... show em
AJM,
You'll love the 5R. The stock you've got it in looks great, definitely a bit unique. I'm still trying to decide on a color to spray the barreled action of mine.
Re: Got Actions? South Paw Heaven!
Those look slick! I'm left-handed, but have always shot right handed...probably because I was taught and grew up shooting righty. Has anyone that shoots right-handed ever used a left-handed action to allow the trigger hand to stay in the trigger guard? I...
