    Re: New addition to the family Enjoy the rifle, you'll dig it. I ran mine with the Hogue stock and bipod for quite some time and it was still insanely accurate for a rifle under $600. I love the short barrel.

    Re: remington police or xcr tactical I'd go with the 700P. It's a wonderful rifle for the price, and a great base platform on which to build and customize. Oh, and don't worry...i've found bolt rifles are just as, if not more addicting than AR's.

    Re: SPS Tactical nearly finished Diggler, I would recommend refinishing the barreled action in something, be in alumahyde, duracoat etc. The rough, blasted finish tends to rust if you don't stay on top of oiling it. Other than that, my SPS is an f'in shooter.

    Re: After 2 years.. finally ready to shoot I'd say before shooting, clean the action/moving parts, and check the bore for any obstructions before firing. Double check the torque on the newly installed base/rings. I'd sight it in at 100 yards. Enjoy the rifle, i've got a 5R and its badass.

    Re: Purchase conundrum I had an SPR for some time, and I enjoyed the rifle. It fit me well, but it wasn't incredibly accurate. I'd go Surgeon...you want one anyway, and sooner or later you'll get one. Once you get it, you will not want to sell it.

    Remington 700 5R

    Re: Remington 700 5R I'd go SPS. I've got both. Is the 5R that much more accurate? Not by that great of a margin. It's got a better stock, stainless barrel and action and different rifling, but for just dickin' around, i'd go SPS.
