    Amsec, Fort Knox, Superior, others?

That is one way around lock failure, a lot of Vault doors (talking bank type here) use a similar setup where 1 of 2 or even 2 of 3 locks will open the door. When your dealing with a door of that type that costs 1000's$ of dollars to open when something fails you want a failsafe setup. It all...

    Amsec, Fort Knox, Superior, others?

That is the biggest selling point for the electronic locks, easy to use. Alot of owners never have a problem throughout the life of the safe. Best advice I can give to a electronic lock owner. When you have a problem, change the battery first, it fixes 95% of the problems. Use Duracell or...

    Amsec, Fort Knox, Superior, others?

As a Locksmith/Safetech I can tell you you won't go wrong with AMSEC. They have excellent warrenty and there service is outstanding. Liberty is also good depending on the model selected. I do warranty and service work on most manufacturers in my area. Always remember, "You get what you PAY...

Good pants without drawing attention or looking like a tacti-tard.

Wear whats comfortable and suits the weather... half the time I wear standard pattern BDU pants, (the old woodland ones not the crappy new stuff). They were comfortable in the Army and they still are now and quite frankly I gave up worrying about what other people thought about what I was...

Will definitely be back for another run. 3 Major things I learned... get off my ass and practice without the bipod, turn the damm scope down when shooting other then on the bipod... and get rid of...

    Handloading for SHTF situation

Re: Handloading for SHTF situation I think it would all depend on the purpose of a given rifle. If your loading for the generic deer rifle aka, 30-30 or hunting grade 30-06 I would load so the ammo would work in any of that caliber. My AR-15 ammo will chamber in any 5.56 AR.. My 7 Magnum...

Velocity goal for reliable 1000+ yard shooting?

Re: Velocity goal for reliable 1000+ yard shooting? I do a lot of 1000 yard matches here in GA. To get to 1k with a 308you need a 175 SMK at 2650. (Thats a base recommendation for our altitude and that bullet.) To get that same bullet to 1200 you need 2900 Fps to keep it supersonic. In...

    Compressed loads

Re: Compressed loads Well they did turn out safe. Fired them this morning no visable pressure problems and no measurable difference in the web area of the case. I was using a drop tube, the Retumbo load I'm looking at for 180's is even more compressed.

    Compressed loads

Re: Compressed loads New Winchester brass 85 grains measured water, 162 Amax, COAL 3.415. Quickload gives a theoretical max of 74.2 H1000 thats well into crunch level. I'm starting at 69.3 H1000 which is a known safe load in my rifle

    9X25 Dillon

Re: 9X25 Dillon Not seen one of those used since USPSA dropped the powerfactor needed for Major. Word of advice wear plugs AND muffs if you shoot a Compensator in a enclosed area with one of those... OUCH they hurt. Only round in a pistol I've seen that you can tune a load to make the muzzle...

    Compressed loads

Re: Compressed loads I understand the pressure issues I'm wondering about the effects of crunching powder kernals. One of the loads Quickload says should be pressure safe has powder into the case neck and gives a distinct Crunch when seated. Just to be clear I'm working up from considerably...

    Compressed loads

Working on H1000 load for my 7RemMag and am getting up to 4.4% compression according to Quickload. How much can you compress before you have issues?

Sorting LC brass by production year

Re: Sorting LC brass by production year I sort by year when I'm loading for accuracy. For plinking/55gr stuff it's run it mixed. WCC84 is most consistant I've got, the 5 pieces I spot checked for water cap were all 30.5.

    Loading question for Preppers/Combat Veterans

Re: Loading question for Preppers/Combat Veterans When I was in the Infantry in the late 80's, our basic load was 7 30 rnd mags with the understanding that if things went to crap we would be carrying every round we could get our hands on. As a Prepper type you better hope you never get in...

Is there a way to tell if a AR-15 bbl is chrome lined or no? Working on trade for one that is "supposed" to be milspec. Barrel has no markings on it I can find.

    optimal barrel length

Re: optimal barrel length I'm going to try to get with a buddy that has QuickLoad this weekend and see what dropping the bbl length has on velocity and amount of powder burned in the bbl.(I'm not a big fan of blowing unburned powder out the muzzle.) I know you can get away with a much...

    optimal barrel length

Re: optimal barrel length I'm going to watch this one closely. I'm about to rebarrel my 7RemMag and am considering the exact same question. I am leaning towards 24" setup to run the Berger 180 hybrids.
