***Long Action/Mag Bolt Face choices!! HELP....

Re: ***Long Action/Mag Bolt Face choices!! HELP.... I clearly would vote for a .338 of some kind. If you want any energy left to kill a large animal then you need the heavy bullet. On the Remington LA it would be the .338 Edge. As one poster said "you can't have it all in one cartridge." I...

Rifle Scopes Please help with Optic decision!

Re: Please help with Optic decision! In most types of target shooting (most of the time) you need the highest power. I would say go with the Vortex. It has the highest resale value when the time comes to step up. The odds are very high that you will regret your purchase. If you can save up...

***Long Action/Mag Bolt Face choices!! HELP....

Re: ***Long Action/Mag Bolt Face choices!! HELP.... You are going to need energy to kill game at one mile. The .338 Edge would get my vote. You really need the heavier bullet.

Range Report My .308 Ladder Test Results

Re: My .308 Ladder Test Results Downhill is correct in my opinion. 300 yards will give clearer information. Your rifle is shooting well. You need more distance to make better decisions.

Rifle Scopes hensoldt 3.5-26x56 vs Nightforce B.E.A.S.T.

Re: hensoldt 3.5-26x56 vs Nightforce B.E.A.S.T. I am quite sure the NF Beast will be very good. A Hensoldt would be my last choice in top end scopes.

Rifle Scopes Best power scope for long distance 338LM

Re: Best power scope for long distance 338LM The posters above have been right to stress having tons of elevation. It is very easy to bottom out at the extended ranges. For my money I would go with the 5.5-22 Nightforce.

Rifle Scopes Quality Scope that won't break the bank

Re: Quality Scope that won't break the bank The poster above has a good choice. It is really hard to beat a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x50mm.

Rifle Scopes Scope review, what do you guys think of these?

Re: Scope review, what do you guys think of these? Save your money and go a few hundred more You will get far more for your buck. Spend more to get more and you will be much happier.

Rifle Scopes Should I Switch Scopes..Hunting to Tactical?

Re: Should I Switch Scopes..Hunting to Tactical? If you are going to be moving from range to range you will be happier with a scope that has tactical knobs and clicks. With a hunting scope most people zero for one range and use holdovers beyond that range.

    Rifle Scopes NightForce Scope

Re: NightForce Scope You will be hard pressed to find a scope that is 100% made in the USA. For better or for worse it is a new world.

Rifle Scopes Barrett Optical Ranging System for Leupold Mark 4

Re: Barrett Optical Ranging System for Leupold Mark 4 A BORS would be fun to play with but it is not necessary. Just take your clicks on a good scope and be done with it.

Rifle Scopes Choosing a high end European scope

Re: Choosing a high end European scope Given your scope list the S&B is tops. A nice rule is "What you would take if it was free". Thats the one you really want. Just save up for a while more and keep your eyes on the used market. It is surprising what you can buy if you look and wait.

Rifle Scopes Please help me choose a Scope for my Rem 700 AAC

Re: Please help me choose a Scope for my Rem 700 AAC I am sure you will be happy with the Vortex.

    Rifle Scopes Clarity and Durability

Re: Clarity and Durability If you are fixed on straight 10x then the S&B would be very hard to beat.

Rifle Scopes Trying to decide what to get

Re: Trying to decide what to get You would be very happy with a Nightforce F1. You are in the price bracket where you can buy a very good Nighforce used or even new scope with luck.

Rifle Scopes What scope would YOU buy

Re: What scope would YOU buy All the advice here is good. I ask you to think on your phrase "start out" with scope X. I would rather see you save a few hundred more and get the scope you want to "end up with." You will be much happier with buying what you really want rather than blow a...

Range Report Bullet "Settling/Laying Down" - Fact or Theory?

Re: Bullet "Settling/Laying Down" - Fact or Theory? I have heard of this issue (groups getting tighter with distance) all my working life. I have never seen it with my own eyes. In my experience once the bullet starts going "out" it does not come back to center line. If one discounts the...

    190 SMK in a 300WM

Re: 190 SMK in a 300WM I really think more shooters should be looking at the smk 220. If you can take the recoil it has very nice downrange effects.

    338 Lapua v. 50 BMG???

Re: 338 Lapua v. 50 BMG??? A 50 caliber is a lot of fun to shoot due to the energy. Usually you can see your impacts. If cost and accuracy are important then a 338 can easily out shoot the 50. In Montana a number of long range elk hunters use the 50. A solid body hit is serious. To the...
