Winchester model 70 US PROP question.

Re: Winchester model 70 US PROP question. mjh, All the pictures of M70's used in Vietnam had factory barrels on them. Granted I haven't seen pictures of them all but I would have noticed a big untapered barrel either left silver or made out of stainless like the one's CMP had. And since the...

Winchester model 70 US PROP question.

Re: Winchester model 70 US PROP question. It sounds like one of the M70's that the CMP was selling up until a couple of months ago. IMHO these were rifles used for the target shooters in the military and not for sniping use. Like most things on the CMP auction site these went for more than...

Movie Theater Sons of Guns - New Discovery Show

Re: Sons of Guns - New Discovery Show I remember seeing brief cases that you put a Uzi or an MP5 into that then had a connector from the trigger to the handle of the case so you could shoot it right out of the brief case. This seems to make a lot more sense than one that you have to unflod...

    I spell perfection, R.E.M.I.N.G.T.O.N.

Re: I spell perfection, R.E.M.I.N.G.T.O.N. Wasn't there a thread a little while ago from the owner of this site stating that all group pictures were supposed to be 5 shot and something like four 5 shot groups or you weren't supposed to post them? I can't figure the logic of the rule but it...

    Trigger for FN SPR

Re: Trigger for FN SPR Unknown, My A3G had a 4lb trigger pull from the factory because that is what the FBI required in their rifles. They also required that the trigger not be adjustable hence the hot melt on the screws. The first thing I did with my first A3G was scrape off the hot melt...

Fieldcraft Making your own snap caps

Re: Making your own snap caps Why even bother? Most target shooters fry fire their rifles 10 times for every live round they send down range. Unless you're shooting something like an old H&H double rifle you are not damaging anything by dry firing.

What NOT to ask on SH

Re: What NOT to ask on SH Don't ask anything without your profile filled out because no one here would want to answer it unless they knew your hobbies and occupation! If you do the profile police will hunt you down and kill you!

    Best factory rimfire action

Re: Best factory rimfire action IMHO Savage isn't even in the same class as Anschutz, Cooper, Ruger 77/22, Remington 40X or 541. They may work fine but they are still just a cheapy economy gun.

    Springfield target 1903???

I'm hoping someone on SH knows more about these guns that I do and could offer me some advice. I'm looking at a Remington Model A3-03 serial number #3865XXX that I found on the internet. I can tell from the pictures that the front and rear sight are not normal GI issue but I also know that...

Rifle Scopes Anybody hunt whitetail with QD scope mounts?

Re: Anybody hunt whitetail with QD scope mounts? First get rid of the POS Tasco and get a quality low powered variable. It's a 30/30 so 5 or 6 power is more than enough for anything you will be doing with it and at 1.5 power you can use it for quick, close shot. In fact you will be quicker...

Rifle Scopes Scope w/ camera built in?

Re: Scope w/ camera built in? On the Elcan are you actually looking through the optics or at a digital image? I remember reading a review about the Anorondak scope in OUtdoor Life or one of the other magazines and they were less than impressed due to you were looking at a digital image that...

    Rifle Scopes BSA optics?

Re: BSA optics? You're making a "build" and thinking about putting a POS BSA on it? It would be much wiser to buy a used rifle and put a good scope on it.

Rifle Scopes Cabela's Lever Action Scope?

Re: Cabela's Lever Action Scope? Like you said it's a brush gun so why would you need aiming dots or anything like that? Get a good 1-4x or fixed 2.5X and be done with it.

Fieldcraft to paint or not to paint

Re: to paint or not to paint Why do you want to paint it? If you feel the need for coyote hunting or something like that then go for it. But if all you are doing is painting it so it loks cool I would suggest against it. Either way the value of the gun will go down.

Hunting & Fishing Neck Shots, advantages, disadvantages

Re: Neck Shots, advantages, disadvantages How much do those beer cans move when you are shooting at them? There is a HUGE difference between shooting at the range, or at a beer can, and shooting a living animal.
