What would you vintage folks do to this vintage caliber 1984 R700?

Was done by a previous owner. Call Remington, they will tell you. I seriously doubt it was done at the factory. I have 6-digit, 7-digit, A, B, C and E receivers, never saw a EP'd bolt. I can take some pics. If it was a factory standard procedure, all bolts would be EP'd right? If 1/10 is EP'd...

What would you vintage folks do to this vintage caliber 1984 R700?

'DE' on the barrel. Sept 1984. Dan, Remington never ep'd the serial on the bolt on 700 rifle.

Remington 700 Police in Walnut stocks

Yes. That stock is a Remington product. Its not aftermarket. The fit is perfect. I bought 2 of them, and both were a direct drop in without any mods.

    An interesting M40 thought.....

I hear you. And agree with above statements. But.. Dont forget that both weapons in combat environment, Winchester Model 70 and Remington M40, are battle sniper rifles, not benchrest shooters. Yes bedding improves accurary, but the requirement is to drop a human size target at 600y, which is...

    An interesting M40 thought.....

The Winchester M70 was never officially adopted as a field weapon. It was not a custom shop weapon, but just over-the-counter arms. - With the introduction of the 7.62 NATO round, all current M70 would need replaced. - There was 3 'safety' types, pre-war, transition, and late, not...

    M40 Mount Questions

Same here. Those who says it doesnt fit never actually tried it. Both bases (40X and 700SA) fits both pre-1974 receivers and the later. The M40 was zeroed to 500y, even if the base is not leveled, there is more than enough elevation adjustments. I have a 700SA base on my 6-digit. Will take some...

    M40a1 build guide

Availability I guess. They used what was available in sufficient quantities.. I dont believe the usual countersink Rem 700 screws would fit the Winchester BM.
