Ok guys so I dug a little deeper today and my suspicions were true. At least im 90% sure. SMI makes the bolts for Midwayusa.com under the name AR Stoner. I would say the od is turned on a lathe due to the tool marks ( very uniformly ) and whatever its coated with, which i dont think is mag phos is pretty thin so the lathe marks are pronounced. Which I could easily see creating a zippy sound. I also agree its not an issue what so ever.- Rhenerie

Overall I was very impressed. The machining looks fantastic very little visible tool marks, and the ones that are visible are concentric. The big question is ... whats it made out of .. I emailed SMI to find out no word yet... Also if you cant tell from the picture there is not chrome...- Rhenerie

Rifle Scopes Best scope rings?
I agree with uncivilized. However if you are going to be removing a scope or moving it from rifle to another there is a bare minimim you can spend. I spend 140 on my aadlands (close to your top of 120 uncivilized) and I think they are the beat bang for the buck to me. Thing I wanted for my nicer...- Rhenerie

If you having Drift it is not because your scope is not level to your rifle. It is because you scope is not level to earth. Get an Anti cant device run a plumb line set the level up properly on your scope. Run the turrets up and down to make sure your scope does not exhibit reticle cant, and go...- Rhenerie
