Finally got to pop the cherry on my AI AE this evening. Called this one up about 18:30 this evening and put a 168 BTHP through her boiler room... only 75 yards on the move but hey, it's $75 bounty money for my pocket! Oh and the 168 gr match bullet worked very well LOL!- ggarrett1911

Averaged 2703 fps for a 10 round string, however I'm at 353' above sea level and had 90 degree heat & 83%...- ggarrett1911

Re: S&B 4x16 Single turn-20MOA Base? +1, the 4-16 single turn has 13 mils of elevation total. I'm running an AI 18 MOA base and still have enough elevation left (11.5 mils) to get to 1000 with a 308 so you should be fine.- ggarrett1911

Re: 260 AI velocity ? I found the same thing with mine, it loved Varget even though it wasn't quite as fast as the H4831SC & IMR 4350. Figured I'd just be happy with it being a little slower but extremely accurate, plus it was probably a little easier on the barrel as well. Good luck and hope...- ggarrett1911

Re: Savage conversion question Yes, the barrel, appropriate barrel nut and action wrenches & barrel vise, and a headspace "GO" gauge like tuckb said. If you're dead set you want a 260 repeater, I'd say buy a used 10FP or similar and rebarrel/build that up like you want for a tactical/hunting...- ggarrett1911

Re: Savage conversion question Yep that's a Precision Target Action if it's got 3 pillars/action screws & 1 rear triggerguard screw. She's a large shank barrel. Shilen stainless select match, 1 in 8 twist, large shank, 260 barrel in the straight 1" Bull contour up to 28" finished length IIRC...- ggarrett1911

I was getting right around 2900-2925 (depending on weather conditions) out of my old 260 AI with a 26" Shilen 1 in 8 twist, but I was running 38.7 gr Varget and 139 Scenars or 140 Berger VLD's & formed 243 Lapua brass. I've seen 3070 out of it trying IMR4350 but wasn't...- ggarrett1911

Re: Savage conversion question IIRC, the F-Class uses the Precision Target action (looks like the rounded, more enclosed ejection port & target accutrigger on the rifle in the pic above), which would use a large shank barrel.
