Any place I can find the thread specs for the 308 barrel extension. Is there a barrel build spec for turning a barrel blank into a 308 AR10 barrel??...dimensions, gas port location (length from extension, etc). Thanks.
I have a Savage LRPV in .223, single shot. 73gr Bergers with 22gr of IMR4895 it shoots in the 1's and 2's without much effort. Pretty amazing for a production gun. I wouldn't spend a lot of money on a custom build for what the Savage delivers.
I'm shooting 43.2gr of 4064 with 175s in my LR308 and have never seen this happen....no obvious pressure signs. Using Winchester brass and Fed primers.... Maybe this is the difference.
Have a select on my current 308 and it is very accurate. Have a little over 4000 rounds thru it and still drives them in there. Had a Shilen select match on another 308 with over 7000 on it and continued to shoot darn good.
IMR4064.....all time favorite. 42.2 with 168. And 41.8 with 175. Both in Winchester brass, Federal match primer out of 25" Shilen barrel 1:10 twist, super accurate.
About 5 years ago I got one of the Minox 5-30 scopes with Schott glass. Was pretty excited as the price was pretty good. I was abit disappointed with the glass quality. It did not give a clear focus across the image. Parts were in and out of focus, not horrible but frustrating. I sent it...
A 308 will go for a very long time... I put over 7000 rounds through one and it still shot 1/2 MOA. You can spend your money on reloading components instead of replacement barrels.
