    178 Amax OCW Results

Thanks for the reply gasdoc. I'm curious, when you say you've had better luck with the 168's, in what way? I haven't had this 308 very long. It wouldnt be too late to make the switch to the 168's if they had an advantage.

    178 Amax OCW Results

Got back out today and shot another set of groups at 200 yards. Building on my results from last week, I shot these groups at 42.4, 42.7, and 43.0. I am going to be shooting in a practical rifle get together next weekend. Targets will vary out to about 600 yards. Do you think I should load up...

    178 Amax OCW Results

I'd also be curious to see if anyone has had any issues with this bullet out of a 1-12 20" barrel?

    178 Amax OCW Results

Prompted by Dan Newberry's post on the FGMM components earlier this week, I shot an OCW test this weekend with 178 amax's and IMR4064 from my 20" 308. I loaded 3 rounds each in 0.3 grain increments from 41.8 to 43.0. Then also loaded 43.5, 44.0, 44.5, 45.0, and 45.5 to test loads up to max...

    OCW Help Please

I just saw this after I posted a reply. My normal range goes to 200 yards, so I could shoot more groups at 200 yards, but not 300. I see what youre saying though...if 45.2, 45.5, 45.8 are similar, I can confirm 45.5 as my node.

    OCW Help Please

Thanks for the input guys. Dan - you mentioned that the weight gradations are larger than you like to see. My logic was to shoot a broad range of charge weights and try to identify potential nodes without burning through too much powder. I had planned to then shoot another test with smaller...

    OCW Help Please

Forgot to add: - On the first row of groups (42-43.5), the first round of shots all landed lower than the rest of the group. The group at 42 is hard to tell from the scan, but it had the lower shot, and double holed the second two. Then, 42.5 - 43.5 had the lower shot and the second two...

    OCW Help Please

I posted this yesterday, but wondering if my post got picked up by spam filters? If this is a repeat please delete mods. I'm developing a hunting load for my 308 using 165NBT and Varget. To start, I shot an OCW test at 100 yards using 3 shot groups at each powder weight. I was hoping to get...

Hoping for a little OCW help

I've been working up some loads in various rifles. This test I did with my 308 using 165NBT's and Varget. I haven't had a test that shot quite as well through the entire range of powder charges and am having a hard time picking out the OCW. Let me know what you guys think. <a...

    What stock is this?

Re: What stock is this? Anyone have experience on bedding these? Do I need to add pillars or would a glass bed work? Im leaning toward the glass bed and no pillars mainly because I do not have a jig or drill press to drill out the stock accurately.

    What stock is this?

Re: What stock is this? Thanks for the feedback. Gonna assume it's a carblite. Here's my impression so far... But first a little background. I bought this rifle new as a package deal (r700 adl and cheap 4-12 scope). Out of the box I shot 5 rounds, cleaned it shot 10 rounds, cleaned again and...

    What stock is this?

Re: What stock is this? The only thing I could figure was it was a carblite stock too. The sling mounts are what were throwing me off mainly. Havent seen that style before.

    What stock is this?

New to the forums and was hoping someone could help me out. Im building a budget varmit gun to just always have in the truck with me for when I see coyotes. I bought a basic remington 700 in 223 and have been doing a couple small upgrades. In the process I picked up a Bell & Carlson stock off of...
