Ha, great minds think alike! I went ahead and submitted one to the Army this afternoon. That should at least show the its path to the CMP.

What does the FOIA response show for G6553999? Surely one of you has run one by now.

    Army M24 Build Thread

Any FFL “bound book” files of the old company would have been turned over to the BATF. The new FFL of the new company would start fresh. Who knows where the corporate files ended up.

    Army M24 Build Thread

I know of some RR prefix receivers that were in Army inventory. The ones I have recorded so far all had letter suffixes in the A, B, and C range. There may have been others with later suffixes too. mjh30 made an important point, that new M24's were still being built by Remington in parallel...

You have to use the barrel to date the rifle. There should be two letters on the left side of the barrel, just ahead of the receiver. Use the code in the link. https://www.remingtonsociety.org/manufacture-dates/ The serial number helps too, but is not precise.

    M40a1 build guide

Eagle Industries is still in business, but don't have the scope covers or other HSRC items at this time. https://eagleindustries.com/ Ebay has some of the Eagle Industries scope covers listed. They appear to the original but use your own due diligence...

Anyone have LtCol Norm Chandler's Email from Iron Brigade?

Sounds familiar: "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

I saw one like that for sale recently. I've never seen one without the iron sight, sun shade and other cut-outs..

Good, the seller deleted the first sentence which read: "This M24 SWS sniper rifle was manufactured by Remington Arms Company c. 2005 and leased by Remington to the U.S. Army for training in 2006." They also deleted the date on the sling that had been copied from the other auction.

Buyer beware on this Gunbroker auction: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/927739368 The description looked familiar to me, especially the first sentence about the rifle being "leased by Remington to the U.S. Army for training in 2006." A quick search found the Rock Island Auction where I had...

How well did the M24 triggers hold up in the field? Did the sand and grit cause excessive wear?

    History of the SR25

The waffle mags were an alloy with a metal follower. I understand that the first one were actually modified Armalite magazines.

    History of the SR25

Thanks for the added information. I would like to see Knights write up some history on the early development and sales of the SR-25's. The first rifle pictured above still has the preservative tube in the barrel, it was just removed for the pictures. It has the original Gun Guard case and...

    History of the SR25

The dates on these pictures are interesting, August 1992 and January 1993. The early civilian sales of the SR-25 Match Rifles were happening almost in parallel. The markings look slightly different (address on the right vs. left), but the configuration appears to be the same.
