Unertl USMC Sniper Scope SN 5001 and Introduction

Yes sir! That is my preference too. It looks like 5001 has been repainted black over other camo paint. A lot of these have several layers of paint. I also have one with camo tape making a slot over the lens, I plan to leave that too. 5003 never had been painted although it has other signs of...

Unertl USMC Sniper Scope SN 5001 and Introduction

Congratulations on being high bidder on that scope! I say that as the 2nd place bidder. I already had sn 5003, so didn't want to be greedy, ha! Glad to hear it went to someone who appreciates it. Your understanding is correct, I believe that the scopes originally manufactured for .50 cal...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Sorry, I didn't make that clear. I was referring to the Badger Ordnance website: https://www.badgerordnance.com/scope-bases/m24-sws-scope-rail-right-hand8-40-screws.html In the description they say "The Badger Ordnance Remington M24 SWS Scope Rail is an exact reproduction of the original one...

Badger Ordnance describes it as an exact reproduction or the original, but in the specifications it says it is picatinny configuration. The originals were Weaver configuration.

Rifle Scopes Anyone still using a Leupold Mark 4 fixed 10X?

I have a couple Leupold Mark 4 10x scopes that I use regularly, they are both M3 adjustments however. One is on an early Knights Armament SR-25 Match Rifle and another is on a Remington M24. I took the M24 out to 800 yards on steel plates recently with no issues. It is hard to go wrong with...

I've only handled the first version. Are the bodies of the two versions the same, with the height of the locking ring the only difference?

M1C Garand scope rings for M82 scope

Great, glad to hear you got it worked out! I've had some where the screws were deeply staked into place...that is a another challenge.

M1C Garand scope rings for M82 scope

They are tricky to get the screws aligned right. I like to clean the screws and threads well before I try to install them onto the scope. Just clean and oil them and run them in and out and make sure they move easily. I like to use a small straight screwdriver with a round shaft on the lower...

    Swedish M41b — interesting piece!!!

I also just remembered the classic Samco packing job, it was loose in a cardboard box with no packing. The bolt handle was poking through the side of the box! Fortunately there was no real damage and the scope and mount were protected in the can.

    Swedish M41b — interesting piece!!!

I think mine was $1295 from Samco twenty years ago in 2001. I have shot around .7 inch groups at 100 yards with military ammo.

I like the rifle and agree that it was most likely sold through the LEO channel. If you still have doubts I'll be happy to take it off your hands for the purchase price! ;)
