    Serial Number Missing

Serial numbers weren't required before 68, but it is a problem if it had a serial number originally and it was removed. In your case a US Model 1898 did originally have a serial number as Badfinger illustrated.

Spotters Spotting Scope Recommendations - Old man edition

I bought one of these last year when my old spotting scope died. Its a surprisingly good scope for the money and has an effective phone camera interface. https://www.amazon.com/Gosky-Spotting-Waterproof-Activities-Digiscoping/dp/B01EBS3AJ4 It could use a better tripod to hold it steady, but...

    Army M24 Build Thread

I just checked and the one I have is a .225 base. It does allow enough clearance for the flash hider lock ring and works with the Redfield sight. It will serve until I find a .175S

    Army M24 Build Thread

I have an old blued front sight base that came with a Redfield International front sight. It works with the flash hider. I don't have a rear sight base yet though.

    Bore Guide?

OK, I see it now. https://deweyrods.com/product/complete-bolt-action-rifle-cleaning-kit-338-lapua/ That's actually not a bad deal for a quality cleaning rod, bore guide and kit. The nice thing about the Dewey rods if that they have a lot of lengths so you can get what works best with your...

Rifle Scopes L&S Inc. ULTRA 10 X-M3A scopes

Leupold used to change out reticles at a fairly low cost, but I heard that the cost has gone up. Then when I asked specifics they said that their custom shop was reevaluating their pricing and couldn't give a quote. I would give their customer service a call and see what they say. You may be...

Rifle Scopes L&S Inc. ULTRA 10 X-M3A scopes

I saw one sell a couple years ago with a Leupold box that was labeled "w/Barrett Reticle". It sold for a little over $1000. Is this the reticle you have?

    Bore Guide?

Where are you seeing the Dewey bore guide for $85? That must include more than just the bore guide. Dewey lists the .338 bore guide for $26. https://deweyrods.com/product/abs-4-338-358-caliber-adjustable-bore-saver-rod-guide/ I use their bore guide for .30 cal and it works well for me.

I can't tell you which is which in your picture, but the Leupold Ultra bases do have fairly sharp edges. These pictures are from that period, but are of an SA base.

    Army M24 Build Thread

Nice picture of the differences. I had noticed differences in the Leupold Ultra rings too. Some of the rings I have seen had a slight purple hue. One of my M24's even came with two variations of rings, one with the chamfered bolt and one with the flat ended bolt. It is perfect otherwise and...

    U.S. Army/Navy/USMC M14-based sniper and DMR/SDM rifles circa late-1960s to late 201Xs

Those last two pictures are a nice configuration, lighter and faster to me.
