    Optics rental?

The Pentax 65ED spotter is compact, light, and has very good image quality. This would be the spotter I'd bring on a hunt: Pentax PF-65EDA II Spotting Scopes 65 mm Angled FREE S&H 70967, KU70118. Pentax Spotting Scopes.

    Optics rental?

You might as well buy used and then sell afterwards. The prices I've seen for rental optics are in the furniture rental range.

    Tele Vue 85 Experiences

Forgot to mention, the below link is to a HD video I took through my Televue 76 using a 2" dielectric diagonal and 2" Pentax XW 40 eyepiece: Bees Pollinating Loquat Flowers in HD - YouTube As you can see, the image quality is absolutely breathtaking. If there is one peerless advantage to the...

Rifle Scopes Are you selling your current optic to buy a Beast?

No, why would one sell if one isn't hurting for money? I only sell my stuff to free up space, not to fund other purchases.

    Tele Vue 85 Experiences

I have the Televue 76 as well as a Pentax 100 ED spotter, both have replaceable eyepieces. The Televue 76 is nice but it is as heavy as my Pentax 100ED. One thing about spotters versus astro scopes, the spotters are build with materials to keep the weight down. The Televue will be quite...

Rifle Scopes If you could go back in time....

The problem with many of this "go back in time" is a good number of the scopes mentioned in this thread weren't even available then. They are all of fairly recent vintage. I would say that if I could go back, I'd buy my Mueller Tactical 3-10x44 SFP scope first instead of some of the others...

Rifle Scopes Premier Heritage Gen 2 XR

Hang a grid paper at 100 yards and see how many inches or cm each holdover mark is from center. That will tell you the adjustment for each mark. Next, chrony your favorite load and enter that into a ballistic calculator. By comparing the calculated drop per distance with the number of in/cm...

Rifle Scopes Which badger rings should i use with my scope?

I'm always under the impression that AR's and scope rings as low as possible are not compatible criteria. How low you can go really depends on the shape of your face. For my round face, I need 1.45" to have a good comfortable scope height. Lower and I find myself forcefully mashing my face...

Rifle Scopes Near Manufacturing Alphamount and Rings

Well, mine doesn't have any MOA tilt in it. For this type of rifle, the tilt is usually in the picatinny base, not the unimount. The height of my Near's is 1.35". I used to have my Zeiss Victory 6-24x72mm scope mounted in my Near until I replaced my rifle's stock with the XLR chassis. The...

Rifle Scopes another NF 2.5-10x42 question

I have a March 1-10x24mm mounted to my long range AR. I'm able to make hits out to 600 yards just fine. The new Nightforce 2.5-10x42 should have an even better image quality than my March so I would say you would be good to go. I've also considered getting that same NF because it is nice...

Rifle Scopes IOR, March or Nightforce

Hey Cold Bore, I see you are near Houston. So am I. I have a March F 3-24x42 on order so maybe you would like to peer through it when it gets here? IOR tends to be heavy with funky ring sizes which is why I eliminated them. For Nightforce, their First Focals were all big and clunky. I...

Rifle Scopes Near Manufacturing Alphamount and Rings

Width is 0.70". Separation is 3.23". I have the 34mm's Nice thing about Nears is they don't leave ring marks, unlike my more crudely made Badgers.

Rifle Scopes Near Manufacturing Alphamount and Rings

I'm in Houston and I have a set of Near Alpha Mounts. They are beautifully made, strong, and fairly light. When I hold mine, it is like holding a work of metallic art in my hand.

Rifle Scopes Scope mount for 36mm diameter scope tube?

Hey! We finally got a buyer of the new Hendsoldt! Congrats! I was thinking about getting one too but that funky tube diameter made me hesitate. Anyways, another supplier you can ask is Cameron Murphy of Murphy Precision. He is a hide vendor and can cut you some custom titanium rings for...

I would think he could crimp the rounds and that should solve the bullets getting shoved back into the case problem.

Using a DSLR Camera as a spotting scope?

Actually there are several ways to do it. For the Pentax spotters, you can get this to attach your DSLR's: Pentax PF-CA35 K-Mount SLR Camera Adapter 70510 FREE S&H 70510. Pentax Spotting Scope Accessories. I personally have used the Televue Powermates with my astronomical refractors to...

    Rifle Scopes Best 34mm rings?

I always use Murphy Precision for my 34mm rings. I buy his titanium rings. Unlike the above, I use Murphy when I want rings that are exactly some custom height not available off the shelf. He doesn't charge extra for custom heights. I like having my scopes fitted exactly.

Rifle Scopes Help me make a decision. Opinions wanted.

Used Nightforce at this price range doesn't have ffp, though. Just saw in our "For Sale" section an SWFA 5-20x50 HD illuminated for sale for $1250. That would be a good price. Here are some through the scope videos I did of the HDMR and SWFA HD: First Review of Bushnell Elite HDMR at 100...
