Bought my dream rifle: It’s a factory Remington 700

I did it the other way around. I first acquired the tools (the AI, scopes, custom 22s, KiDD, etc...) . Now it's time to focus on collectables.

Bought my dream rifle: It’s a factory Remington 700

Back in the 90s, my dream rifles were the Steyer SSG 69 and the Remington 700 Varmint Special. Fast forward 20 years later, and I finally bought the Remington in 223. I love the fit and finish of the gun. It has a beautiful deep bluing and the trigger breaks at a crisp 2.5 lbs. The previous...

Not Happy with MPA customer service... 14 month wait for folding stock, multiple emails, phone calls with no response. Update Pg 1

I agree. The alternative is to say we have a wait time of 12 moths and stop taking orders for the next 6 months.

Rifle Scopes Athlon Cronus 4.5x29x56mm vs SWFA HD 5x20x50mm

The parallax on the SWFA 5-20 is definitely very stiff. I’ve owned two (and still own one), and on both the parallax is an absolute pain to use. But just put the Aadland Parallax Gripper and the issue is solved https://swfa.com/aadland-parallax-gripper.html I also see some of you guys comparing...

    Anyone using Vividia GB-4510 borescope?

I tested the GB-4510. It's nowhere as clear as the Hawkeye pictures that you see online. So I was a little disappointed. Then I ordered the Lyman Borecam to see how they compare. The GB-4510 is significantly sharper than the Lyman. I really don't like the Lyman. The resolution is too low for...

    Anyone using Vividia GB-4510 borescope?

The original price of the GB-4510 was $450. You can get the Lyman for under $180. What I like about the GB-450 is the thinner tube and the fact that you're not limited by a subpar LCD screen...

    Anyone using Vividia GB-4510 borescope?

No one? I can't find any info on this borescope. I just ordered one for $350. I'll see how it is.

    Anyone using Vividia GB-4510 borescope?

How is it? How does it compare to Hawkeye or Lyman Borecam?

Should I be content with what I have....or spend a grand?

You only shoot at 100y, sometimes go to 300y and don’t reload. Why do you want to get a 6.5C? Get a 223 in 1/8 twist, like a Tikka. You’ll have a lot of choices in factory ammo, it’s much cheaper, you won’t give up anything at 300y and it has less recoil.....Did I mention it’s a lot cheaper?

AIAT started to pierce primers since switched to H4350

I switched back to 41.7 gr of IMR4451 with new Lapua brass for my local match. As expected I got an average speed of 2777 FPS with a 3 SD. I had exactly ZERO pierced primers. I agree that the firing pin marks have some rough contour, and that might have been because of the previous pierced...

AIAT started to pierce primers since switched to H4350

So with the few primer piercing I had (might be caused by bumping back the shoulder a little too much), might have caused a firing pin erosion, which might also explain the rough edges on the primers of factory ammo (post #13). I took out the firing pin and it does show some erosion….So I might...

AIAT started to pierce primers since switched to H4350

Yup!! I failed to mention but I definitely pushed the shoulder back too much during full length resizing with the h4350.

Are you shooting 147 gr ELDM as well?

AIAT started to pierce primers since switched to H4350

I have a local match this week. I’m going to switch back to 41.7 gr of IMR4451 that gives me 2786 FPS. I’ve been using that load for the past several hundred rounds and never got a pierced primer. I’ll be using new Lapua brass. I’ll take pictures of the fired brass and report back. One thing...

AIAT started to pierce primers since switched to H4350

Here’s another interesting fact. Below pic is the brass shot from factory 260 130 ELDM. I shot the same box (16 rounds when barrel was new, the 4 remaining rounds a few days ago after 1000 rounds) The 6 cases to the left: Shot when the barrel was new a few month ago The 4 cases to the right...

AIAT started to pierce primers since switched to H4350

Or I just go back to IMR4451....BTW does MHS do the bushing as well?

AIAT started to pierce primers since switched to H4350

The bullet has 0.01" jump and I don't believe jamming is an issue. I didn't chrono the pierced primer loads. Here's a pic of the brass with 41gr of H4350. There might be some pressure signs on most of primers. I'm surprised that I get pressure signs at a lower velocity with H4350 vs IMR4451. I...

AIAT started to pierce primers since switched to H4350

The rifle has a large firing pin and a 26” barrel chambered in 260 by MHS. My load is Lapua brass, BR2, 147 ELD. My initial load was with 42.9 gr of IMR 4451. I was getting 2812 FPS and no issues. I reduced that load (didn’t need that much speed) and settled on 41.7 gr IMR 4451 with an average...

H4350 vs Imr 4451 charge for equivalent load

FYI and as a data point, I did a chrono today with 41.2 gr of H4350 and I'm getting an average of 2794 FPS with the 147 ELDM.

H4350 vs Imr 4451 charge for equivalent load

    I actually did a load dev today. I'm using Paul Reid's method (http://www.texasprc.club/preidloaddev/) With the 4451 I settled on 41.7 gr. {"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/6krGHWa.jpg"} I did a similar test with H4350 and I think I should go with 41.2 gr. I...
