Gunsmithing Cerakote on a Deviant action- question

We've gone both ways on coating the M16 extractor and coating don't seem to have any negative effects. On the subject of whether or not to coat the bolt body on a tight tolerance action this is what we do that works well for us. Bake proof tape from Brownells on the contact areas in the...

Here's a few pictures showing how we Cerakote rifles with tight tolerance receivers. This is a 7 Rem Mag built on a Defiance Deviant. We use bake proof tape to cover the receiver raceway in the areas that contact the bolt body. This gives us the ability to coat the bolt body without having it...

Is this cheating? Or lazy? Or insulting?

Ha!! reminds of way back when I was worried that Boone & Crockett might disqualify my entry because i used a range finder to take a big Arizona whitetail buck. Makes me laugh now. I'm sure that over my years my friends and I talked about the day when all you had to do was point and shoot...

Got muzzle brake and it changed accuracy. Why?

Nothing weird about a small POI shift. Adding a brake changes harmonics. If after load development the rifle still will not shoot well with the brake on, then tell your smith to try again with the brake install.

    Gunsmithing Bolt Knob Install Question

Lots of ways to do it, and that looks fine. That gap is why we make our own knobs and use a threaded stud smaller than 5/16". The Tac-ops style welded stud is great too, but not for us. All knobs are turned out per order and fit to the handle it is going on.
