6.5 Grendel vs 6.5 creed at 18 inches

That is the Grendel velocity from a 24" so an 18" will be apx 150fps slower or 2430fps. From Hornady's website- Test Barrel (24") Muzzle 2580 1818 -2.4 The Creedmoor reaches 2900 out of a 24" so 2750 out of an 18" apx 300fps difference.

Who makes a 6 ARC upper?

I wouldn't use Nitride treated bolts if it was me. They are softer than gas carburized bolts and the lugs will compress over time increasing headspace..

Does Kreiger or Bartlein make match grade barrels for

Krieger's DCM 20" is hard to beat. Look on their site or call to find out if they are chambering after the order or if they are keeping them in stock,it changes year to year.

    Avoid Palmetto State Armory

If you go through your parts kit and see a disconnector that looks like this you know it's junk. Notice the rounded corners. I haven't seen hammers and triggers this bad but I've seen plenty with rounded sear corners instead of machined or honed to a perfect corner. No, I'm not saying that came...

New 224 valk barrel chamber length question

You will lose case capacity but probably not enough to effect velocity 50fps. It is only the diameter of the bullet going back into the case X the length. I would back off charges then work back up. Try H4895, it seems to be the best in the Valkyrie with 80gr bullets.

    6 Arc barrels

Shaw can make a good inexpensive barrel if they have good button specs. They make a lot of OEM barrels for companies that most think are made by those big names.

    6 Arc barrels

WOA isn't getting into it, from their website- UPDATE: We have no plans to introduce a 6mm ARC barrel. ORIGINAL POST: We have been getting a lot of calls and e-mails in the last week or so asking if we are chambering barrels for the new Hornady 6mm ARC. While we have not yet made a...

Sig Spear 7.62x51 is out and she's a porker

Because uncle Sam, which means you and I are paying for them. Sig more than likely can't or hasn't yet filled the contract but if civilians out there want to pay the price then they will pay the price. I will not buy one but I guess our govt thinks they are worth whatever the contract price is...

Sig Spear 7.62x51 is out and she's a porker

Military accuracy requirements aren't that tight and they weren't designed to be a PRS rifle. So yeah I agree, anyone buying one to shoot PRS is a fool.

Sig Spear 7.62x51 is out and she's a porker

They didn't design it for people to shoot 308 out of it and they probably couldn't care less about civilian sales when they have a contract with uncle Sam. I understand they designed it to defeat LIV armor, yeah maybe that is what some squads need but I think the 6.8 SPC would have been better...

Mk12 Setup for High Pressure Loads?

Rem 6 1/2s, the original Fed 205s and CCI 400s are not the best to use when pushing pressure levels as others have said, they will flatten and pierce before 450s, 41s, 7 1/2s, Fed AR or the Russian primers. Wolf has a slightly smaller flame which lets the powder build pressure more evenly, many...

Mk12 Setup for High Pressure Loads?

One thing to consider is the specs of the barrel when trying to get maximum performance. A 6 groove barrel with a 50:50 land to groove ratio will create more engraving force than a 3 groove with a low land to groove ratio. That comes on as peak pressure is being developed by the powder. The 3G...

    6.8 SPC suppressed

Did it work correctly before the suppressor was added? If it did adjust the gas block closed 2 clicks at a time then open to see if any of the adjustments help. No such thing as an adjustable bolt. After you try the adjustments on the gas block if it still will not lock open report back for...

Confusing 6ARC AR15 Gas Issue After Switching to Rifle +1 Barrel

Most local smiths probably don't know that much about ARs or scope barrels that often.

Confusing 6ARC AR15 Gas Issue After Switching to Rifle +1 Barrel

CFE and Lever are slower burning than the other powders so the pressure is higher at the port. If you don't have enough gas at the port with faster powders then heavier springs or buffers would make it worse. No idea what they are thinking when they say go to a heavier buffer or spring. If it...

Thoughts on Nitrided Bolts in 2022?

They weren't nitride treated when I was using them, just parkerized. I wouldn't use a nitride treated extractor either.
