Canadian Ranger rifles in the Arctic need replacements, don’t work in the cold

If they had used a manners or mcmillan they probably wouldn't be having the stock issues. Dry film moly lube is your friend in climates like that. I concur with the postulation of changing temps inside/outside.

    Barrel cleaning with alcohol

I run an alcohol patch followed by a dry patch on my work rifle. I find it helps prevent a cold bore shift. My other rifles, I leave a light coat of Hoppes #9 in the bore. Penetrating oil works well too. Needs to be cleaned out prior to shooting.

Older NightForce NXS 5.5-22x56mm vs. New Arken

As stated, that era of NF had "okay" glass, but they were typically very reliable. I concur that, even with a new DNT or Arken, it is a step down. However, you don't "need" to spend NF money to get a very good, reliable scope with a zero stop and good glass. Since you were considering Chinese...

Ideal .223 Bolt Action Plinker (?)

OP OP states he has a stash of 55 grain 223 ammo. Most likely M193 ball or generic 223 loads. He is not looking to handload match ammo, he wants a good, accurate plinker to shoot up his stash of ammo as he is bored with shooting it out of an AR. Handloading isn't on the table, buying more ammo...

Ideal .223 Bolt Action Plinker (?)

I have seen some 1-7 twist barrels that couldn't shoot 55's worth a shit (ball type ammo), since we are talking a stash of 55's, I'm guessing most are M193 loads, generally about 4 moa loads out of a good rifle. The 1-8 twist is an excellent compromise, fast enough to stabilize the 77's not so...

    Seekins ph2 rebarreling 300prc to 300win

Besides the retarded belt, the issues with the WM are that factory chambers are not cut to optimize high bc bullets. That may, or may not be an issue. The advantage of the WM is quality brass availability. Hell you can pick up good, once fired range brass.

    REM 700 SA prefit action?

Weatherby 307 builders action. Thread pitch is same as remington. They get decent reviews. The only real knock on them is they use savage scope rails but that isn't really an issue. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/712026549/wby+307+builders+action+short+standard+black

    REM 700 6.5CM help

I'd go with a sendero contour barrel, unless you really like heavy rifles. There are several "remage" barrel makers. Criterion was already mentioned, shilen, x caliber and preferred barrels all make them. Simple tools and a go gage. Keep in mind, depending on how you shoot your rifle (pace) a...

    Rifle crown condition

I get it, but I'd hate to see you pay for the recrowning, just to discover there are other issues. Those rifles tend to be suprisingly accurate.

    Rifle crown condition

Personally, I would replace the barrel. If it is that pitted on the crown, I would think the rest of the barrel is jacked as well. If you have the tools to change an AR barrel, you have the tools to change the RPR, they use the same tools. You can buy a pre chambered shaw 10 twist stainless...

Energy has very little to do with it. Shot placement and penetration are what kills animals. The fact that you argue otherwise proves you're an idiot.

    R700 300wm to 7prc advice needed..

My Dad took two elk with the 6.5x55. A 6.5 CM will do it, but bullet selection is paramount. Some folks have taken elk with a 5.56 mk 262 load, and several use the 6.8 SPC. I certainly wouldn't recommend either of those, it just goes to prove the point that placement trumps horsepower. Countless...

Do I need a 700 in my arsenal.

Poorly written on my part, I have 5 rifles built on 700 actions and 1 rifle built on an origin action. Didn't think it would be that hard to understand.
