    4064, varget and rl15 are your friends with 168 to 178 grain bullets. RL15 is temp sensitive and what works when it's cool outside may be over pressure when it gets hot. Don't discount the 155 eld bullets, they have a very respectable bc and you can get them moving pretty fast.

    And that is exactly why the "how good is the glass" questions are useless. What I see through the scope isn't at all what you see and vice versa. I don't doubt for a moment what you say. I suffered from a mixed astigmatism in my right eye (part of my eye was near sighted, part far sighted)...

    The xtr 2 was never known for good glass. It competed with the original PST. Both made in the Philippines. PST had better glass, shim style zero stop. XTR built like a tank, real zero stop. Serviceable glass. Decent in the 2-10 and 3-15, struggled in the 4-20 and not very good in the 5-25.

    I have the Chronus, it is a very decent scope. It does everything well. I have better scopes, I have worse scopes. Athlon makes a good product. If you can spring for the extra dough, the S3 is a better scope. FWIW, the tract toric 4.5-30 is only about 100 bucks more. The S3 is about 700 more...

    For less than 2500, you can get into the Tract, Maven and Delta Stryker scopes with coin left over. All three are very well made Japanese manufactured optics. Great tracking, good glass.

    Since this thread is 5 years old, it is likely he has either moved on to something else or made his decision. Although, you can't be certain, I have been afflicted with analysis paralysis on more than one occassion and it sometimes take a very long while to make that final decision.
