Does anyone have experience with both? I have experience with the Vortex 5000 lrf. I like the Vortex, but I can save a couple of hundo if I were to go with the Burris.

    Bushnell Matchpro 6-24 vs Arken EPL-4 6-24

Why such a high magnification scope for hunting? You are far better off going down in magnification and will likely get better glass as a result. High magnification and low price do not go together. My hunting rifle wears a 2.5-15 power scope. If you are okay with MOA/MOA, I highly suggest you...

Ruger M77 Hawkeye .257 Roberts accuracy expectations?

It's an M77, they aren't known for accuracy. They are good looking rifles and that is an excellent cartridge. I would suggest a bedding job, maybe a trigger. That would likely help accuracy. As long as the first round is consistent, I wouldn't worry about it. That is acceptable hunting...

    XM3 receiver question

It's a clone, it all depends on how "original" you want it to be. Are you a purist, or do you want a rifle "just like it"? The R700 hasn't changed much in 62 years, is there going to be a big difference operationally if you sourced an action made in 2005 versus one made in 2015 blued steel or...

    Jimmy Stewart.

Legen has it that James Arness was the first off the landing craft at Anzio due to his height. Don't know how true that was, but he took machine gun rounds to his leg

    Happy 100th Jimmy Carter

He was a shitty President, but a very good man. The last Democrat that loved America. Hyman Rickover selected him to work in the Naval Nuclear program, an indicator that he was very sharp.

Poor IRL performance of the 68 grain .223 BTHP

Match bullets are not designed with any thought to expansion or stopping power, they are designed with accuracy as the goal. Whay does the Hornady site say about match bullets for hunting? The hollow point is there as part of the manufacturing process.

    Midas tac

There's always a chance you got a bad one. First, check the Pic rail screws as well, the mounting screws between the rings and the Pic rail and the ring cap screws. At one time or another, I've had all of those loosen on me. Hell, I've had the action screws come loose. The midas series are solid...

Savage spotter barrel, is there enough thread

You can purchase a Shaw stainless 223 wylde with the muzzle threaded for 330 bucks. The heavy magnum contour is thick enough without being too heavy. They make a really decent barrel, I have two and bought one for my son, all three are very accurate. That's not much more than having the work...
